The summary sounds really promising...
But what is Cyberpunk? I've never heard that term before.

Cyberpunk is a concept born of the 80's and can generally be summed up as Near Future (usually 2020-2060) where the world went to crap, the morals and clothes of the 80's never went out of fashion and technology has moved on in leaps and bounds.

The world that I built is Dallas mid-this-century where you have mercenaries who hire themselves out to do jobs, kidnappings, assassinations, theft, for money. Anyone can call to get something like that arranged. The good live to retire rich around mid-thirties. The bad, well, they tend to die out fairly quick.

For practical examples of Cyberpunk that you might know, think of Johnny Mnemonic, Matrix, Blade Runner. Even things like My Own Worst Enemy and Dollhouse have Cyberpunkian concepts in them.

Good God. I...I am looking forward to reading this, but wow. No wonder you felt so pressed for time - that is an impressive length of fic!

...and now I need to get washed and dressed and go to work. (I already had an hour-long conference call, leave me alone.)

Hiya honey :) Yeah, the editing part added another 10,000 words so I may have been a little frantic. I like how it turned out though, so that's a good thing.

It's close to the Shadowpunk world so you should recognise most of it. It's coloured iwth how I see that world and how the tech works but hope you enjoy it when you do get enough time to read it honey :)

I'm glad! It'll be nice to see a bit more of the world; I've mostly been limited to Via's because of time and the like.

I just made it to work. Between that and not being in yesterday, and only coming in at 4 on Tuesday because I spent the morning making moving arrangements, I don't know what my colleagues must think. (In my defence, I worked 3.5 hours Tuesday and was travelling/attending that conference for 15 hours yesterday, and I did my hour this morning, and I'll probably just count the three days as 2.5 days' work anyway...)

That's not bad in fairness. You can always put in some extra time after the move if you need to.

And yes, when it comes to Cyberpunk worlds (Cyberia, Shadowpunk and straight-forward Cyberpunk - but leaving out Shane's world because that's of his own invention) I'm happy to give all the insight that you never wanted or needed. I love the system, the concepts... So if there's ever anything you want to ask or anything you want to read about .. Don't hesitate. I'm always looking for prompts.

So finished Reading, enjoyed it. Skipped the parts that don't interest me, I am sure you can guess which bit:)

as I have said before, I am not a fan of RPS, however I worked it in my head by just saying actors cast in roles, and that helped me.

As I said by text this is a pretty good story, and slight changes, characthers renamed, and also renaming certain products that may belong to TSR, this story would stand well as a publishable story.

The only problem I had was that Even after what happened to his family Jared never tried for revenge, he just meekly rode of into sunset, it just feels wrong. Of course that may be just my disapointment that the story ended!

That's where the sequel comes in. I had a plan for the revenge but honestly it would take another 50,000 words to tell and there just wasn't time.

Hmm luckily I was in work when you mentioned sequal or I may have had to do some form if happy dance. And that is something that should never be seen!!!

Four hours and three boxes of cookies later, I have finally finished this fic! I'm the type that lurks; I'm usually too timid to post feedback in any of the fandoms I belong to but this time I couldn't resist. Cyberpunk is one of my favorite genres, and I love the way you weaved it into a J2. (This story actually kept making me think of the show Dark Angel, starring Jessica Alba? It was on a while back) I agree about the revenge...I'd love to know how Jared gets back at Kane (is he's still alive?). If there is a sequel, count me in!

I know Dark Angel well. ;)

I am a huge Cyberpunk fan. The original story idea was Pirates but I couldn't get it working so I ended up thinking about what I like writing and out popped Cyberpunk.

And yeah, I'm starting to think that I have to finish the story and give Jared the revenge he should have. :)

Thanks for delurking and leaving a comment, hon. Means a lot.
