Just watched a replay of the United-Chelsea game on MUTV, and I've decided that I love those commentators. They are so much biased towards United, that if I was an opposing fan I would be really angry. One of them in particular was so funny that he had me in stitches. I loved his comments! Plus he had a really strong accent sort of like Sir Alex, which made it difficult to understand what he was saying, but also made it more interesting. Some of the ones which I remember are:
+ "Card's are flying around like confetti!" - on the ref being card-happy.
+ "He's got half the touchline on his face." - on Wes Brown sliding into the touchline.
+ "Wes Brown's all over him like a rash!" - on a bear-hug by Wes on Malouda.
+ "The boss is not going to be happy! Oh he's applauding!" - on Shevchenko being subbed, and Roman's reaction to it.
+ "He's looking a bit leggy" - on Shevchenko's lack of pace.
+ "He'll run and run and run" - on Louis Saha.
+ "Chelsea are extinguished" - after the second goal.
+ "Look who's back to defend, it's Cristiano Ronaldo! And he shows some great skill in that too!" - when Cris went back to help Evra against a Chelsea player in the United half of the pitch.
And my personal favorite, it made me laugh the most:
"Cristiano Ronaldo's not too happy with you Wayne!" - this was when Wayne attempted a shot on goal, which went wide, instead of passing to Cris who had acres of space on the right. What made it more hilarious was the look on both Cris and Wayne's faces.
One thing I realised, the game was a lot more interesting than I had though initially. Maybe that time I was too worried about the result to really enjoy the game. But watching the replay was great fun.
Also I really appreciated how good Michael Carrick was. It was one of his best displays in a United shirt. He was right at the centre of everything, getting in those crunching tackles, winning back possession, and distributing the ball so perfectly. His passes were just sublime. I remember talking to someone about how indistinctive he is usually, both in attack as well as defence, that you are left wondering whether he should be attacking or defending. But on sunday he was very precise in whatever he did. My MOTM definitely!
One of the most pleasing things about the game was the way the entire team defended. It wasn't just the back four-they were as brilliant as ever, but even people like Cris, Giggsy, Wazza, and Tevez whom you don't expect to help out in defence were doing so.(Although I'd prefer Scholesy not to make his "special" tackles!) I loved the way Wazza managed to get the better of Ashley Cole a couple of times(legally, not the yellow card incident).
Ashley Cole - now he's one player that I absolutely detest. There were at least three occasions when he dived blatantly. The one which got Wayne the yellow card was no more than a touch. Yet he flew like a rocket. The other two times the ref did not fall for it, which led to a huge temper tantrum. Honestly, sometimes these footballers behave worse than kids. But it does beg the question as to why he wasn't booked. I know that we weren't exactly saints or anything, what with Saha's theatrics(I really wish he would cut it out), but if Cris can be booked against Everton, than Cole should definitely have got a yellow.
All in all, a hugely entertaining game. The next big one is in November against Arsenal, and I can barely wait for that.
Of course we do have some other important games before that, so hopefully we'll do well in them.
On an unrelated note, it's all over the net so I'm sure everyone has heard it. Xabi's girlfriend Nagore is pregnant and he'll soon be a father. I'm ashamed to say that I was rather unhappy when I heard it. It seems so final now. She'll have a baby, they'll get married and live happily ever after. *sighs, I want to be happy for them. He'll make a great dad. Besides I'm not naive enough to think that he'll never start his own family. It was going to happen sooner or later. And I'm sure I'll continue to adore him just as much. So best of luck to them!
