United vs Derby, Clueless friends

I never thought I'd say this, but we were completely gash last night. Totally rubbish. Honest, I've never seen us play so bad. It was like we had no interest in winning or for that matter, even scoring a single goal. Urgh, I can't believe I got out of my warm cozy bed at 1:30 am to watch this. There was not even a single player who put in a half- ( Read more... )

Trying to defend the whole area with Rafael and Sheasy often not back in time.
Being a full-back must be pretty thankless job. I think they must never quite know when to go forward to attack and when to stay back to defend. Either way, they end up missing out somewhere. I guess that's why we're so lucky to have such an awesome pair in Rio and Vida, they can handle the whole area by themselves without needing the full-backs to help. Unfortunately, Jonny doesn't have the same kind of ability, but he did do his best.

Yeah, the young ones have a long way to go. Sir Alex said that they did better than the others, but I didn't really see it. If he is going to play the youngsters, he needs to play some proper first-teamers too, just to get the balance right.

Bottom-line: This better work like before where we were extra great when we played shitty in the match before.
Agree completly. It's a good wake-up call, but now it's up to them to actually wake up

Not so sure about the wc final. I guess, it would depend on who plays.
If none of our players were involved, I would give it up. Watching the Euro's this summer, I didn't get even half as excited as I do for a pre-season friendly. Not to sound like a top fan or anything, that's just the way I feel.

Yes, our regular defense is awesome like that. Not only can Vida and Rio handle things, Evra and Wes are also really quick to be back when it's needed. Not always obviously but most of the time.

If he is going to play the youngsters, he needs to play some proper first-teamers too, just to get the balance right.
I soo agree. But obviously he thought this would be fine. And it turned out as desastrous as the same mix last season.

The Euros. I have to say I really enjoyed watching Spain. Beautiful football. But no, I didn't get as excited. I'm not passionate about Spain like about United after all.

Oh Spain were lovely. And I loved watching them. But it was rather like admiring from far, I didn't feel the closeness with them as I do with United. With United, it feels like Family.

I know what you mean. My mom always has to stiffle a chuckle when I speak of "we" and "us" in regards to Man United but it feels right to say it. And no, definetely nothing like that with Spain. They played beautifully and for that I wanted them to win (especially against Germany) but it wasn't personal for me.
