Oh dear. I feel so awful for the Liverpool boys. I can't believe they didn't make it. They certainly deserved it more than Chelsea. I thought they played better over the two legs, and Chelsea got really lucky with their goals. The first one was definitely offside, I can't see how the linesman missed that. Also, Sami should have gotten a penalty, Drogba clearly caught his ankle. It could have been so much different if those decisions had been given!
I think losing Martin Skrtel so early was a really unlucky blow. Poor Sami, he couldn't really cope with Drogba or Kalou's pace. It was awfully unlucky for him to give away that penalty. Although, I have really tremendous amount of respect for Frank Lampard for taking it and putting it away. It was a fitting tribute to his mother, she must have been so proud of him. I don't like him at all, but it brought tears to my eyes to see how much it meant to him and his dad. Really, really brave of him.
My heart goes out to all Liverpool fans. They deserved to be in Moscow. Your team gave it their best, be proud of them. They nearly managed to pull off a spectacular result, they could have done it if luck was on their side. But don't worry, I'm sure that this will just make them stronger for next season. I know it is not much of a comfort, but Liverpool are just a few players away from competing for the Premier League title. If Rafa buys sensibly in the summer, things can be very different next season. *hugs you all*
Not to trivialise the result or anything, but this just made me laugh really hard. Hope it can at least put a smile on your face-
Apart from the humourous sight of Grant being so lightweight that a slight push is enough to bowl him over, I've got to admire the dedication of Stevie to get on with the game.
Urghhh, I can't believe we'll be facing Chelsea in the final. It's just taken the gloss off it. A Liverpool-United final would have been so romantic. But, as many people have pointed out, it would have been a nightmare for the fans who are travelling to Moscow. There was a real danger that many lives would have been lost, considering the real hatred between the two sets of supporters. Perhaps this is for the best. As we know, Chelsea don't have any real, hardcore fans, so it should be all right. (sorry, I couldn't resist!) And my loyalties won't be divided, that's for sure. It will be so wonderful if we can steal both the League and the Champions League trophies right under their noses.
