Hello! The week has just dragged on forever, hasn't it? It's horrible when there is no football to watch! Thank god it's the weekend and we have some cracking games coming up!
United travel to Blackburn, which has traditionally been one of the most difficult places for us to go to. Hopefully, the thought of extending our lead over Chelsea to 5 points, will be sufficient motivation to ensure that we don't slip up. I am quite interested to see what kind of team we put out, because I'm sure everyone's thoughts will be on Wednesday's game against Barca. But we really need these three points, so I hope it's a strong team.
Liverpool will be facing Fulham, and I remember the huge uproar that was created last season when Rafa put out a weakened team. They lost to Fulham, and the other managers were furious because they felt it was unfair on them. Warnock, the Sheffield United manager then, has dug up the same story again and warned the others that they shouldn't expect Liverpool to show them any respect. In fact, he's almost blaming Liverpool for Sheffield United getting relegated, which I think is ridiculous. What about the fact that his team couldn't win any of their games? Why should they be dependent on Liverpool to bail them out of trouble when they can't do it themselves? Apparently Rafa has the
same view on the Warnock issue too. It's rather silly, but all the same, I hope Liverpool put out a strong team tonight, just to strengthen their own position. I really think they might be able to push Arsenal for third place, and that would be really great!
Talking about silly stories, how about this one?
Gerrard approves Barry move
Yeah right, that's what Liverpool need, yet another central midfielder! Like they don't have enough in their ranks. Of course, it all just gives the press another chance to speculate on the Xabi to Spain rumours, it's become a favorite topic of theirs, despite the fact that the player, his agent and Rafa have all said that he's staying put. And isn't it incredible how these people make up stories without any direct quotes? Where in that article did Stevie actually come out and say that he wants Barry at Liverpool? It's ridiculous!
Coming to United, there were two awesome articles about Fletch-
'Lunatic' Fletcher feels frustrated &
Fletcher: I hid to avoid Fergie
You can always depend on Fletch to make you smile! But this part really surprised me-
However he finds managing a knee injury in the company of his twin 13-month-old boys Jack and Tyler an interesting exercise.
Fletch has twins??? Aww, how cute! I had no clue! Is he married then? Damn, it's so difficult to see him as a Dad! I want pics!
And the one about him hiding from Fergie, I don't blame him! I'm sure Sir Alex must have been furious that he got injured while on international duty. But it was hardly his fault, he can't say no to his country.
Speaking of injuries,
Owen Hargreaves is a doubt for the Barcelona tie
Poor, poor Owen. Just as he was finally cementing his place in the side, he had to get injured again. I hope it's not serious and we'll have him back soon. I would have loved to see him against Barca, I'm not too sure if Anderson can handle such a big game. Get well soon, dear.
Finally, how cool is it that Rio and Wes have finally signed the contracts? And Mikey's got an extension too! Now it's only Pat who is remaining, I hope he does it quickly so we won't have any stupid rumours in the summer!
Also, I know this is horribly late, but all my condolences to those people of Liverpool affected by Hillsborough. Here are some pics from the memorial service...
It must have been a beautiful ceremony. And they deserve nothing less, RIP to all of the 96.
