~Father’s Day~
Jensen sat in his back booth at Sal’s diner after his shift, studying for his test the next day, unaware that Jared had walked into the diner with Mark. Mark stayed back as Jared walked up to the booth and smiled when he saw Jensen deep in thought. He slipped in the booth the best he could with his belly.
Jensen looked up when he saw someone’s body slipping in the seat across from him. Smiled when he saw Jared‘s face. “What are you two doing here?”
Jared took Jensen’s hand into his own. “Jensen Priestly, will you marry me?”
Jensen looked at Jared, not believe how nothing went his way. Jared’s ring had been burning a hole in his jeans pocket for almost a month now, and here it was him being asked instead. “Um…Jared; But no.”
Jared stared at Jensen as tears started to flood his eyes. Jensen didn’t want to marry him. “If you don’t want to be my husband or a father to our son, Jack, then fine; But Jensen Priestly, go to hell, you hear me? Go to hell.” He quickly got up and walked away, heading towards the bathroom.
Mark saw the tears in Jared’s eyes as he passed him, knowing Jensen had to have said no. He walked towards the booth as Jensen got out of the it. He blocked Jensen. “How could you?”
Jensen slipped his left hand into his pocket and slowly pulled the ring out and held it tightly in his hand. “Mark, it’s none of your business for once.”
“Anything that hurts Jared is my business.” He blocked him as Jensen tried to step around him.
“Mark, I have to check on Jared.” He tried to pay no attention to the spots he was seeing and the roaring in his ears as every color he saw started going black and white like an old tv whose cable was out.
“No! You stay the hell away from him.” He grabbed Jensen as he pushed by him and started heading towards the bathroom.
Jensen felt Mark‘s hand grab his arm and force him to turn around. Jensen looked at Mark, who was about to punch him, when everything went black and he fell into Mark.
Mark quickly caught Jensen. “Someone call for help, and someone go get Jared out of the bathroom! he yelled as he kneeled on the floor, holding Jensen in his arms.
Sally rushed to the men’s restroom as another waitress called for help. She knocked on the door before she entered. “Jared, you in here?”
Jared looked up in the mirror from where he had been splashing water on his face to clear all the tears that had fallen. “Sally, I’m fine.”
“No, sweetheart, I came in here to tell you something is wrong with Jensen. He just collapsed in Mark’s arms. We have help coming.”
Jared felt his heart race when he heard Jensen had collapsed. He rushed past her and turned the corner to see Mark holding Jensen in his arms as paramedics rushed in. He ran over. “Mark, what happened?”
“Jared, I don’t know. He was trying to go see you, and I stopped him. I just made him turn and look at me, and he fell into my arms. I don’t know what’s wrong with him.”
“Does he have any medical condition?” One of the paramedics asked as the other lowered Jensen onto the floor and started taking his pulse.
“None.” Jared answered.
“You related to him, sir?”
“Boyfriend. He‘s really healthy.” The paramedic nodded as they lifted Jensen onto a gurney.
“We’ll be taking him to St. Luke’s.”
Jared nodded. “Come on, Jared, I’ll take you.” Mark placed his hand on the floor to push himself up when his hand felt something. He picked it up to see it was a ring. He stood up and walked Jared out as Sally got all Jensen’s books and carried them out to the car with them.
“You boys let me know how he is. Tell him not to come in tomorrow or the next day. He just needs to get better.” She handed Mark Jensen’s books, and he put them in the back seat.
“I will, Sally,” Jared said before he got into the car.
