~Spring Break~
Jared stood in his bedroom in his old bathing suit that wouldn’t go over his baby bump these days. He let out a heavy sigh as his mother watched him from the doorway.
“I think it’s time for a new bathing suit.”
Jared looked up in the mirror at his mother. “I just thought I could get out of buying new clothes.”
She laughed at that. “Sorry, sweetheart, but it doesn’t work like that. Just think of it this way- it means they are happy and growing. So what if you need new clothes? You and the baby need to be comfortable.”
Jared walked over to his bed and sat down on the edge and ran his right hand over his belly as his left rested on the bed for support. “I can’t wait for Jensen to see how big they are getting.”
“It will be nice for him to get to see the baby in person and hear their heartbeat for once.” Jared nodded to that.
“Thanks for being so great. I know I’m young, but I really love him, mom.”
Jared’s mother smiled and walked over to him and sat down next to him. She placed her hand over his hand on his belly. “Yes, Jared, this is not how I hoped this would have happened; but I can see the love you both have for each other. I know you two didn’t’t plan on this. Your father and I will be happy to help you with anything, but I don’t want the baby to put your dreams on hold, either. I want you to go to college.”
Jared smiled. “I planned on going in September.”
“Jared, that’s pushing it. You would just be weeks from giving birth.”
“I know; but I want to be with Jensen.”
“Can you both study and take care of a baby?”
“Mom, we’ll be fine.” Jared started to sit up when he felt a flutter in his stomach. He rubbed his stomach on the spot. “Mom, I feel something weird.”
“What is it?”
“Like a flutter or butterflies.”
She smiled and placed her hand on top of his. “Jared, that’s them. You’re feeling your baby for the first time.”
Jared smiled and looked down at his belly. “Hi, baby. I love you so much.” He looked up at his mother. “Maybe Jensen can feel them when he gets here.”
“Maybe, or it might be a little longer, so don’t worry if he can’t.” She stood up. “Now, get dressed and let’s go shopping so you can go to the beach with Jensen and Mark.” Jared nodded and got up as his mother left his room. He threw on a pair of jeans that still fit but were not just getting a little tight in the waist. He grabbed a t-shirt.
