Refugee in a foreign ... county

I left last night at around 1:30 a.m. and got to my parents house about 3:30. There wasn't any traffic at all then, but now my zip code is under mandatory evacuation and I think it's starting to get a little congested. My office (which is the big employer in the area) officially closes at noon, so I bet it'll get bad after that. We had liberal leave yesterday and today, where you can leave if you need to, but you have to use vacation or comp time, so I'll just put four hours down to the comp time. After that, it's excused leave, so I'll still get paid.

I managed to bring most of my clothes with me. Most of my money is tied up in clothes. And books. I brought three suitcases of clothes and one laundry basket of shoes. I didn't bring any books, except for two to read over the weekend. And I didn't put them up out of the way of the water. It would have been too hard to decide which ones.

It was weird ... eerie, I guess ... locking the apartment before I left. I love my apartment so so soo much. Seriously. When I come home at the end of the day I am always excited to see it again. So aside from the hassle of having damage, it would make me very sad.

But maybe I won't anyway. Probably I won't. It's been a long long time ... maybe since the 60s ... since Houston had a hurricane bad enough that there would be flooding where I lived. And the wind ... if a window broke, a few things might get wet. But I live on the first floor, so I don't have to worry much about leaks. Unless there's tornados. That's a different story. I think that's why my parents' house had three uprooted pine trees on it.

Anyway. I brought my Supernatural DVDs and my Veronica Mars DVDs. My mom has her own Gilmore DVDs, so I left those, and she borrowed my Joan of Arcadia DVDs awhile back. So I'm looking forward to a lovely hurricane and I'm not going to think about what ifs.

things i don't expect you to read, unsupernatural stuff
