Well, I just got back from the play and I have to say that it has made me think of the book and some of the characters with new thought. I generally do not put too much thought into the motives of the characters sometimes. I just take it as it is written which is odd because I tend to read too much into the poetry I read and obviously not enough into the books and stories I read. Basically, if you do not know about the book "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte you may not know what I am talking about in a second but oh well, you should go read the book or atleast see the movie becuase it is really a great story. Jane, as everyone who knows the characters know, is kind of composed and quiet individual but has her moments when you see her spirit, like when she talks to her aunt like she does when her cousin hits her and she reacts and hurts him. Bertha, Mr. Rochester's wife, has that same wild spirit that Jane does but only her's shows as madness. The person who wrote this play basically shows that Bertha and Jane are just sort of the same person. I do not mean to say that Jane is Bertha and vise versa but more that Jane has the portion you see mostly, the quiet and composed person and also another side that is wild and free. The only portion of this theory that I do not agree with is that when she was taken out of the red room at the beginning of the play, they left that wild spirit in there, locked away. She didn't seem to loose that spirit until just after Helen died. I mean, even then, she still had a little bit of the spirit in her but it wasn't as strong. You do not see that strong spirit again until she is older and falls in love and then it isn't so much a wild spirit but more of a free spirit with a bit of maturity added. In the play, they locked the "Bertha" side of Jane in the red room and she left. True, you could tell that that spirit was still there locked inside but the brunt of it was locked in the "red room" or inside Jane. I loved that they kept showing Bertha throughout the play whenever Jane was going through something but couldn't act out like she deeply wanted to, like screaming or jumping for joy and what not. The question and answer section of it was great. Basically they said that the reason for this seperation was because of some documents found by the author of this play. But also because of the time frame this book was written. It was done during the Victorian age and anyone who had Mrs. Meyer, RINDY, would remember the stories she told about the suppression of sexuality and women and the like and that Bertha was created for that too. It was great I have decided. I am totally going to have to read the book again for the millionth time and this time it will be different becuase i have a different view. Another thing that was seperate from the play that I thought was kind of cute was that Kevin didnt want me to walk up to county market in my dress. All it is is a skirt that goes down half way between my knee and anke and a spaghetti strap black shirt but he was like, "well, if you need a ride I'm just gonna be here in my room. I don't think it would be safe for you to walk up there in that outfit." Hehe. True, I am a slightly big chested individual so you see clevage in this it isnt that bad honestly. Ashley, you have seen it so you know it isnt. Not to mention, I wouldn't go up there without a coat on because anyone who knows me know I do not like to show a lot of skin to the outside world. Like, going to a play, you need to dress up and no one will be looking at my outfit so it is okay to where like a spaghetti strap and sure, its okay in like summer and such, but it is cold out there right now and I am atleast slightly modest. But it was cute that he was atleast slightly worried about me. I'll have to tell mike that he has a friend looking out for me here. I mean, I know, I have more than that, I have ashley and rindy and others in the house and at work but Mike is slightly more close to Kevin so it would be more like Muppet or Captain is here looking out for me to him than anything else. AWW, I miss Muppet. I've seen Captain recently but Muppet, i haven't seen since around Christmas. Anyway, sorry, got side tracked/ I'm gonna go now and see if there is anything on TV. Tootles.
