Merry Christmas to ME

Feb 08, 2013 17:28

I truly feel badly for all of you people who are not married to my husband, because he is the best.  I am currently enjoying my Christmas gift: Two nights at a hotel, by myself, with nothing to do.

I took today off from work and started the day at the hair place, getting a cut and a manicure (something I have done all of about 3 times in my life - she cleaned my ring too! Forgot how freaking sparkly it is!) and got my eyebrows done.  I have NEVER done that before, largely out of fear and partly out of resistance to girly-hood. But since I've been wearing contacts, I have become acutely aware of the caterpillars living over my eyes. And so, when the woman doing my nails casually asked if I'd ever had them done, I caved.  It was not that bad, but definitely not anything I should ever take into my own hands.

So, once I was all manicured and otherwise coiffed, I headed into town.  I took care of a little banking, had lunch, and then went for a massage.  Haven't had one in about 3 years.  I strongly feel that monthly massages should be mandatory for everyone.  I did it at a fancy-schmancy over-priced place that I probably won't return to, but the masseuse was the best. Perfect amount of pressure and she didn't talk to me at all except to say, "Turn over now, please."

The snow had started early, but was still only flurries.  IS still only flurries.  I'm entertained by the local meteorologist trying to make excuses for the lower - or at least later - impact.  Honestly, it's only a foot of snow.  That's not actually anything all that serious around here. THREE feet, like they might get in Boston, is worth the hyperactivity.

Anyway, I checked into the hotel early and unpacked. I was going to go eat dinner in the restaurant, but decided instead to go to a nearby grocery store and stock up on my hotel/snow storm essentials: microwave dinner, ice cream, Reese's PB Cups, Sun Chips, Swedish Fish, trashy magazine.  I am good to go now.  I feel a little funny not being home during a "weather event," but they're actually going to get less snow there than here, 15 miles to the west.  The meteorologist just explained to me that it is a "snow shadow," caused, I guess, by the mountain ranges to our east.

I brought all kinds of fun things to do.  I'm going to put together my seed order, write some personal emails, maybe do some long-ago-abandoned cross stitching, etc. There's a pool here, so I might also take a swim tomorrow.  Or I might just stay in bed all day and do no-o-o-o-o-o-thing.

Merry Christmas!
