I planted peas (Sugar Snaps) waaay back when I took my first strategic gardening day off, April 11. I planted a 5 or 6 foot row. To date, a whopping 3 plants have come up. Well, the seed dates back to 2008, so I guess it shouldn't be all that surprising. Earlier this week, I replanted the row, overloading it with about 3 times the density of seeds. Hopefully enough will germinate to provide a few vines for fresh pea-munching. (Sounds like a bad euphemism.) We still have quite a supply of frozen peas, left over from a couple of summers ago. Next summer, I will have to plant sugar snaps in earnest, so we can freeze more. We should hopefully be out of the old ones by then! If not, I may just have to go against my apparent need to completely use everything prior to replacing it and just throw the old ones out. Meanwhile, I suspect I might as well toss the rest of this seed out.
