Actually, it's all common knowledge so how is it gossip?
Looking at my back posts, it seems like I only update when someone's leaving the company or there's drama. Today, we got emails that both Marc, our tech guy, and Renee, the receptionist, are leaving on the 17th. Now, Marc I'm not as surprised by because he's going to a software development company. I don't think he's been terribly happy being a constant lackey computer-wise. It'll be interesting to see what the new person is like, whenever they happen to find said new person.
Renee, on the other hand, came as a complete surprise. I would have expected her to have at least mentioned to me that she was looking for something. I mean, I knew she'd be starting her internship for dental assistant school in late October but apparently she'd finally had enough of Michael Martin yelling at her.
You know, I don't ever witness the really bad rants because he wouldn't do them in front of me. Not that he won't in front of other people. As I was telling Sam the other night, MM and I have a very off relationship. I can't describe it because it's simply not normal. That's why I say "off." At first I thought he might have some attraction to me but that doesn't make any sense knowing him. Maybe, and this is purely my speculation... Maybe he's just not used to a female treating him like I do.
He would never get away with yelling at me like he does other people because I yell back. He tried it once, I think. It didn't go very far so I don't entirely know. He started to get a little belligerent in his tone and I calmly and firmly defended myself without acting defensive. It's like calming down an irate 5 year-old, if you're my mother. She just says "Why are you getting worked up over this? Is it really that important to you? Why is it so important?" Damn, she is so good at that. I used a Mommy technique when I first started here, too. We were walking from one building to the next and, having been warned earlier in the day that he's chauvinistic, I noticed that he kept walking faster and didn't hold the door for me. So, on the way back, I purposely walked slower while talking so he'd have to slow down to MY pace and stood at the door waiting for him to open it. It all happened so fast that it wasn't obnoxious (I'm so glad for that) but I got my point across. Guess who he holds doors for now?
