Art Post - Beyond the Horizon
Another story idea of mine that I call 'Beyond the Horizon', though this one came about a bit differently than the previous ones. A lot of the characters for this one came about separately and weren't originally connected to anything or to each other (except for a couple of them), some didn't even have that much info with them when I first thought them up. However later they all just jumped together into a single story idea.
Telena Starsoul

Actually the central hero of the story, Telena is a royal guard of the Roshan Kingdom and one of the protectors of the princess and prince. While Telena is generally a fun loving and light-hearted individual she takes her duties very seriously and feels it was a great honor to be named a protector the of royal children.
However things took a strange turn for Telena when on a trip with the royal family a powerful group of mercenaries attacked the caravan. The royal guard did their best but they were starting to be overwhelmed by the power of the attackers, the magic and monsters they had on their side were just too much. But just as things seemed lost the individual known as Tattered Mage, along with his partner Kitts, came along and turned the tide of the battle, sending the mercenaries into retreat. After the battle, after making sure everyone was alright, Tattered Mage went up to Telena and after staring at her for a moment said that she was "Very Interesting" and had "Potential"; what worried Telena is that it's said that when Tattered Mage takes such and interest in someone that their life will be turned upside down. Telena really doesn't want her life turned upside down, she's perfectly happy where she is; and while nothing seems to have changed yet Telena figures it's only a matter of time.
As for her abilities; Telena is an sword expert, with her main weapons being her dual blades. She is also a skilled magic user, specializing in magic that boosts her physical abilities (speed, strength, toughness, etc.), though she's pretty good with healing magic too.
Zara Tass

Zara is a mercenary adventurer from the Northern Lands, wielder of the magical weapon the Blade of the Northwind. Zara is an intelligent and serious individual who believes strongly in honor and is always looking to improve herself. While Zara does mercenary work to make money; what she prefers to do with her time is explore and study old ruins left over from fallen kingdoms and ancient civilizations.
While Zara spent much of her life in the Northern Lands she has recently traveled to the kingdoms of the south. This current adventure started while she was still up north; Zara was exploring some ruins when there was an earthquake that caused an rockslide/avalanche, the event took her by surprise and she lost hold of her blade so she couldn't use it's powers to defend against the oncoming wall of rock and snow and she quickly found herself caught up in it. When it was all over Zara found that while she hadn't been completely buried she was still trapped and unable to free herself. After several hours night began to fall and Zara began to lose hope that she would be able to free herself, it was then that the Tattered Mage and Kitts came along. Tattered Mage freed her and even helped her find her weapon, before leaving he told Zara that she was "Very Interesting" and had "Potential" then told her that maybe she should head south for a change of pace. Zara thought "Why not?" and headed for the southern kingdoms to see what awaited her.
Zara is an expert with her weapon the Blade of Northwind and with using its powers of being able to summon and control both wind and ice, even without the powers of her blade she is a sword expert. Zara is formidable without the blade as well being a fearsome hand-to-hand combatant.
Jacob Bluestone

Jacob is a scout from a military unit known as the Jungle Wolves of the southern nation of Valdenare. Jacob is an eternal optimist, jokester/prankster and a lover of life in general, he never takes things too seriously and even faces danger with a smile on his face.
Even on the day his unit was exploring on unknown ruin in the jungle and someone released some dark creature that had been sealed away did Jacob lose his optimism. The battle raged and while his unit was very skilled the beast just seemed too strong, no matter what they did they just couldn't seem to damage the thing. Just as it seemed all was lost for the Jungle Wolves a magical blast struck the beast and Tattered Mage and Kitts appeared on the scene and with their help the Jungle Wolves were able to win the battle. After the fight was over Jacob started making jokes and Tattered Mage laughed at them (though none of the other Jungle Wolves did), Tattered mage told Jacob he was "Very Interesting" and that he had "Potential" and then left. Jacob continues on with his job as scout, wondering of he'll have even more excitement in his life now.
Jacob is an expert with any type of bow, though he prefers a short bow, and is considered the best shot in Valdenare. He even knows some magic, though most of Jacob's magic is just stealth and distraction type spells.
Robin

Not much is known about Robin the spirit mage (not even his family name), all that's really known for sure is that he originally comes from the southern frontier. But it's not that Robin is purposely trying to be mysterious, he's just a very shy person and doesn't like talking about himself. But even if he is quite shy Robin does his best to help those he finds in trouble and protect those who need it.
Robin seems to be a frequent companion and friend/ally of Tattered Mage since he is known to travel with him a lot. But Robin says that he often doesn't plan to travel with Tattered Mage, it's just that they seem to be traveling in the same direction or going to the same place and awful lot.
Robin is able to use his magic to both summon and communictae with various spirits, nature spirits, the spirits of the elements, spirits of inanimate objects, and even the spirits of the dead. Robin can learn information from spirits, use them to scout around, form spiritual barriers/defenses, or even battle other spirits. Robin even has enough power to give spirits a temporary corporeal form to allow them to interact with the physical plane.
Gwendolen Earthspyre

Gwendolen actually came to be along with the main idea for this story (as most of the other characters were jumping in and I was still figuring out their place) so she was immediately integrated into he world/story as it was forming. She's knows Robin very well and treats him much like a little brother (which annoys him to no end) and is one of the few people he doesn't act as shy around.
She's friends with Tattered Mage and it seems that she has known him for a very long time, she even hints that she knew him before he was known as the Tattered Mage. And while she doesn't give any definite information about him or just how they know each other she does sometimes call him "Pops"; she doesn't use it to mean they're related, just hinting that he's even older than she is.

The infamous Tattered Mage himself, a mysterious individual that's been around as long as anyone can remember. It's not known who he really is or where he comes from, though most consider him to be crazy. However people don't mind him too much since he's actually pretty nice and he goes around helping people, thwarting evil and defending the people from monsters.
Tattered Mage is a wanderer, going anyplace and showing up everywhere. No one knows if he has some sort of plan or if he just wanders around at random, but he does seem to always show up where his help is needed. But if he ever tells someone that they're "Very Interesting" and have "Potential" they'd better be prepared for things in their life to change sometime soon, it seems to be some sort of premonition from Tattered Mage.

The magical familiar/partner to Tattered Mage, Kitts is a powerful shapeshifter. Like her chosen form looks she's generally a sweet and playful individual, always ready to have fun or kick back and relax in the sun. But's it's dangerous to make her angry though, she can be a real terror if she wants to be.
