Weekend update first, then memeage. :)
On Tuesday, MJ told me he was bailing on the weekend. I had a sneaking suspicion that was going to happen, so I wasn't all that surprised. I forged ahead. Thursday, I headed to Lowe's and picked up a nice fake tree with white LEDs. I am pleased. On the way to the office, I was offered the opportunity to make a generous financial contribution to Fairfax County's traffic enforcement coffers. Damn radar guns on hills.
I signed cases all Friday morning, and started writing up a case I'm reopening prosecution on. It's going to be painful. Ran some errands in the afternoon, and fell in love with Guitar Hero World Tour, which kicks Rock Band's ass.
Saturday morning, I was up early and picked up
andrewshead at his place in Gaithersburg. From there, he took me through some of the rolling hills of upper Montgomery County to pick up I-95 north of Baltimore. Beautiful landscape. We made it to my brother's place shortly before noon.
We went out, and made a quick stop at the Hoboken LYS on our way into the city. We wandered up 5th Avenue amongst the throngs of other tourists. I wanted to see some of the window displays--as did EVERYONE ELSE. There are lines to look in the windows. I decided that I could see the displays just fine from far away. We visited the tree at Rockefeller Center, and meandered up to FAO Schwartz for Build-A-Muppet. I nixed that when I saw the line to get in wound around 3 sides of the building.
We cabbed to the village where I'd set up a basketball viewing party, the location of which changed at the last minute due to Large Crowds. I was SO psyched that everyone made it. :) Game sucked, but I had good peeps around me. Andy was with us for the game, then left for his own dinner plans.
Dinner at Tao was good with the TiVo peeps, and some of us headed out for post-dinner drinks. Andrew and I headed towards the PATH, and wandered through Times Square. It started snowing, and it was pretty durn magical (/emo). We visited the Charmin Public Restrooms, which was just surreal. There was an EMCEE. Wonder what the interview for that position was like. "I want to get people excited about bodily functions!"
Slightly disturbed, we took the train back across the river and hung out at Andy's place chatting until the wee hours. Good times.
We left Sunday shortly before noon with a stop at the Bagel Smashery on the way out--Hoboken's only source of bagels? I couldn't manage to get a dozen to bring home. Drive home was uneventful, and I was home close to 5pm.
Great, great, great weekend. I was SO HAPPY to see my friends from different parts of my life (family, high school, college, Crazy Internet Friends) get along so well. Thanks so much for coming out! I can't wait to do it again.
