"It's A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood..."

This has been a pretty good weekend for me, so I thought I'd post about it.

Saturday night was interesting. My roommate and I were sitting outside with another friend just having a smoke and shooting the shit after having made a little trip over to Salina to pick up some items for a night of poker and a cookout planned for this evening. Derek suggested out of nowhere that we and Greg hit a strip club in Wichita right then. Stupid an idea as it was, we all just mutually decided "Fuck it. Why not?" So we went.

That became a weird night. I'm not sure how best to explain that, but I guess there's only two things I should note:

A) I engaged in significant fondling with a porn star. But it was mutual, so it's A-O-K. :)

and 2) I saved Lisa's car from getting hit by a police car.

Strange how fate and karma work in interesting ways, twisting and interwining throughout our lives, pairing up at the most random moments without explanation or reason.... isn't it?

Anyways, today was good too (I should say "yesterday" as it's 7am now and I'm still awake). I owe a big thank you to the Caudillo Family, and in particular Derek and his brother Jeremy for inviting me over to their mother's house to join their family in a Mother's Day dinner. My own mom is out of state right now visiting my grandmother. I would have gone with her but I have an appt this afternoon, and she wasn't to be back until Tuesday evening.

So I was expecting to have to spend Mother's Day alone. My mother and I been getting along much better lately (with a minor relapse at one point that I managed to find a way to diffuse with only a bit of pain and depression on my part). But I was still hoping to spend the day with her on Mother's Day since it might be the last time we get to do that for awhile while she's healthy enough before she has to go in for her surgery. Since she'd left to go see my aunt and grandmother, I thought I might be a bit depressed on the holiday. But Derek told me that I was invited to join his family for a cookout dinner with his family. So today we went to Hutchinson and met up with his brother, Jeremy, who extended the invite as well, and we all went over to their mom's house for a great meal. Their mom is just awesome as hell too. She's a real sweetheart, open-minded, great sense of humor, and so nice and friendly. They all made me feel like extended family myself.

I can't say enough good things about Derek's family. I've gotten to hang out with Derek's brother for a bit, and I gotta say I really like that dude. He reminds me so much of my friend Donovan in so many ways. And I consider Donovan a true "brother" to me, so that's about a high a compliment as I can give to Jeremy. From the first day I went over to his house and met him, Jeremy has made me feel like I've known him for years. He's a real stand-up guy, very generous, funny, and he knows his way around a computer too. All aces in my book. So I gotta say I respect that guy for a lot of reasons.

But most of all, I have to say that he's reading this right now, giggling and blushing like a little schoolgirl. Don't think I can't see you, you snooping punk-ass. :D

Anyway, it was a great dinner and a good time. I really appreciated that.

I also want to give a little shout-out (oh dear god, I've finally succumbed to "shout-out-itis") to a certain someone whom I've recently began to get to know. This person really intrigues me. She's interesting. She's enchanting. She's Irish. ;) Oh, and she's hot (an adjective that I think I'm overusing with her to the point that I'm becoming Paris-fucking-Hilton). :)

So all in all, it was a good weekend. But now I really have to get some sleep. Tomorrow (technically *today*), I have to get up and mow the lawn, then clean up around the house a bit for tonight's cookout and poker night, a regular event that is fast becoming a sort of religious experience for me. More on that later.

Oh, one last thing... when the guys and I made a little detour over to WAD (the Wichita Association for the Deaf) on Saturday night before hitting the strip club, we found a lot of cops there. You'd think someone warned them of my arrival or something. :) Who let that kid use the phone anyway? But here's a little personal note for Lisa: You might want to park your car in a different spot than beside the fence from now on. The cop that came in the building damn near hit your new car as he pulled out of the parking lot. Had I not jumped between the vehicles and gotten his attention to make him stop, I'm pretty sure he would've rear-ended your "Almost Unlucky 13". Anyway, I hope you don't decide to hate me for ruining a good opportunity to sue the city or something like that... but if you do, I guess it's just par for the rapist, physically-violent, sex-toy-abusing, non-showering, alcoholic, devil-worshipping bastard that I am, huh?

Yeah, I'm saying all that with a smile. :)

Cheers.
