I would just like to begin this reaction post by saying FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!
Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way.
The first scene was AMAZING! OMG, that was so awesome. At first, when he was getting those cuts, I was like, “But Mercury died!” And then his skin started peeling off and I was like “FFFF EWWW.” Then he exploded and I was filled with the sort of glee that only comes about through gory movies. The boils and the locusts later, those were just disgusting and ew and “NOOO WHYYYY I JUST ATE AND AM FULL AND ALREADY FEEL A BIT ILL. D:”
Okay. Sam exercising. Now, I don’t find Jared Padalecki particularly attractive. I don’t think he’s ugly, he’s just not my type.
That being said, I would hit that like it was going out of style. Except I wouldn’t ‘cause Sam apparently does whores now, and he probably has syphilis and gonorrhea and herpes and AIDS and I’m also gonna assume crabs. I do love that he’s so good the prostitutes would do him for free. Even Dean only got a half-off discount.
I loved Dean talking to Ben. I like that they’re keeping the connection there, because Dean needs someone to get his motherly instincts on.
Like the kid. That whole thing was disturbing, I’ll admit. Not least because the dad was Darrel and the kid was Aaron and I have an Uncle Darrel whose son is called Aaron. It started out funny, how Sam was all calm like federal agents appearing out of nowhere in the middle of your living room is totally reasonable and normal. But then Cas kidnaps the kid and tortures him and Sam is like “THIS IS TOTALLY COOL, GUYS. IT IS NECESSARY.” And Dean tries to get his protective daddy instincts on, but the douchecocks won’t let him.
I gotta admit, when I recognized the scene from the promo, I got my high pitched squealing ready. Because it was TIME FOR MOTHERFUCKING CASFACE! In my notes, I have “Cas” written very largely and with lots of A’s and S’s. Because I love Cas. And he was especially epic this episode. He was HILARIOUS OMG.
Sam gets bitchy at him? He is pretty sure “hello” is still how you say it.
Sam is still bitchy? “Dean and I do share a more profound bond. I wasn’t going to mention it.” WHY SO CANON DEAN/CAS?
Earnest and oblivious Cas is earnoblivious. “Dominance display against the Egyptians.” “I think we can rule Moses out as a suspect.” YEAH. THANKS CAS.
Asking for help, even though he knows he’s not really been there for them lately. And also, it “people” skills are “rusty”. You can tell because he actually uses air quotes. THAT IS HOW YOU KNOW. Only socially awkward people do that.
Ashamed Cas - this part kinda broke my heart. He didn’t want to let his only real bffs know about his failure. I love that the civil war in heaven is canon now, though. I mean, I’ve seen a frillion fics where Cas fights Raphael, but it’s actually a thing now.
As a tangent, we got to see my favorite ex-Shakespearean actor! (This is a joke between a friend and I who noticed that a lot of the villains on SPN have this habit of talking like they’re on the staging quoting Hamlet or something. No srsly, go listen again.) I was super sadface to see him die. But I’m excited for whoever Raphael will be next time!
Balthazar, though… I don’t really have any feelings about him. I don’t like him, I don’t dislike him. I’m fairly neutral, at the moment. I guess if he comes back in future, I’ll make a decision then.
Okay, so what did I think of the ep? Definitely my favorite so far, and only part of that was because Cas is back (CAAAAAAAAAS.) I’m still having problems with the season, though, especially the characterization. Why is Sam such an asshole? Why is Dean so preachy? Why is Cas such a douche? Why is Bobby practically non-existent?
I think my favorite part of the episode is when Cas and Anonyhenchangel killed the Douchemobile! I was so glad to see that shitbag go.
NEXT WEEK - Possible future spoilers as I was spoiled for something and I'm not sure if that's next week or not.
We get Bobby again! I <3 Bobby. And vampires, apparently! Is this the Twilight episode? Because I thought that one was supposed to be cracky, and next week’s ep did not look cracky.
Also, did I seriously see Dean smack Lisa? ‘Cause that’s what it looked like. >:|
