so fall is definitely here and while i'm enjoying countless pumpkin spice lattes and walks through the leaves, it's also getting really cold out sometimes and i don't know how i feel about that. i've been spending most of my working days at the pioneer square clinic, looking after wayward homeless people without insurance, doling out socks and bus tickets, along with checking them in for their appointments. the high anxiety levels due to the feared shortage of flu shots appears to have subsided, thanks in large part to most of them getting their flu shots by now. outside of work, i've seen a fair amount of friends in the last week or so, including maria, whom i had barely talked to in the last year. finished a painting and have been reading some shipwreck books, as per usual. i'm also mildly obsessed with miniture /dioramas after seeing chicago art institute's fairly-creepy exhibit of about 100 miniature rooms, detailing architechural changes in frech, american, and english interiors 1600-present day. ask meaghan about it. and the other best part about this exhibit was that they were all made by the same lady. whoa. my extreme-early xmas present from ian, an ipod, has become an instant travel companion, and when it refused to turn on this lunchtime as i prepared to sneak into the aquarium, i was reminded by how fickle technology is. luckily, i didn't have to fret long, as soon as i came home i learned how to reset it. yes. walking around the city with headphones on is amazing. no lobbyists on street corners or shady people asking for change dare to even try to talk to you, everything is filtered into your soundtrack of choice. i highly recommend it. this week i got word that i am officially accepted to the oceanography program at uw. how excited was i? excited enough to hang my certificate on the fridge. the back-to-school countdown's begun. anyone want to donate some money? my parents officially make too much money, i've been denied of everything from grants to loans. i thought everyone could get loans. what a bummer.
in conclusion: isabel the cat's still neat, sweet potato/pepper fajitas are highly recommended, and "top model"'s officially the best tv show ever. is everyone watching the eclipse tonight? i hope so.
this week's catchphrase: "pump up the jamz!"
