1) Go get the Beatles Anthology CD. Anyone of them, there's three volumes. I just discovered these albums and they have caused somewhat of a Great Awakening of my Beatles Fanatasism. It's unbelievable. Hear unreleased songs. Hear early versions of songs, with just John or Paul or George playing alone in a studio. Hear alternate versions of songs that never made it to the albums but that were more creative any interesting than those that did.
2) Go get Ken Kesey's "One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest". It's a counter-culture classic, with allergories running anywhere from the hippie rebellions to the story of Christ. It's a short, tight read and it'll make you want to claw your eyes out.
3) Go get "Midnight Cowboy". This movie is unbelievable, starring John Voight and Dustin Hoffman. It'll make you cry and you won't know why. Screw Brokeback Mountain. If you want a real tale of heatbreak and desperation, see Midnight Cowboy.
That's it for now.
