Nine Inch Nails, Electric Factory.
Meghan got to my house around 5 and we went down to the factory, thinking we're all early. Yeah, we got in line in the back of the venue. Right by the dumpster. It was freaking cold out too! Stupid wind in the city. We got in and went upstairs and got a good spot with a view center stage. The Dresden Dolls played first and they were better then I expected. They did their song "Coin-Operated Boy" which gets stuck in your head! Even after the whole show, Megh and I were still singing it on the car ride home. They also did covers of "War Pigs" and "Karma Police". Pretty cool.
NIN came out not too long later. There was an intro from the new cd of the song "Beside You In Time". It was all dark and then you can see the band come out onstage. Trent played "The Frail" on his piano with the lights just showing a shadow of him. Totally cool, we were feaking out. Then they went right into "The Wretched." So awesome! Jeordie is my favorite musician I think. C'mon he's been in Manson, A Perfect Circle and now NIN! How great! So anyway, they had this big wall of lights in the back that kept changing doing different colors and designs and stuff based on the music. Such an awesome light show. They did "You Know What You Are?" one of my faves from With Teeth. Then, "The Line Begins to Blur", "March of the Pigs", "Piggy", "Terrible Lie", "Burn", "Closer", "Reptile", "The Big Come Down", "Gave Up", "The Day the World Went Away", "Suck", "No, You Don't", "Even Deeper", "Wish", "Hurt", "The Hand that Feeds", "Starfuckers, Inc.", and "Head Like a Hole".
They played for an hour and 40 minutes. Amazing! Trent kept getting pissed off during the show b/c the music kept getting messed up and things weren't working. He was throwing water bottles out into the audience and at the roadies. So awesome. During "Head Like A Hole" his guitar was messed up and he said something along the lines of "Something's gonna get broken" and he took his guitar and chucked it in the back by the big light wall. Then he went on a rampage. He threw his mic stand and kept throwing water bottles and even took Jeordie's mic stand and threw that too. The guitarist was kinda flipping out too. He climbed up onto the balcony and trashed his guitar. Trent just kept pacing back and forth on the stage. But he kept singing, which was cool. You could tell he was hella pissed. Jeordie looked scared as hell! It was funny. But you'd think he was used to that b/c of Manson. He did that all the time. Well I would be scared too. No way would I wanna piss off Trent Reznor. He's a big guy.
Anyway, best show ever. Gonna see them again in the fall if I have to sell my soul for tickets!!
