the delirium faded after the first mile. the wind gently pushed us backward and we laughed because we knew it wasn't reall pushing, it was just welcoming us. the climate was different and perfect and you forgot about the place you called home and i looked at the city from the 5 and planted my feet deeper in the california dirt and layed my head on your shoulder and we both knew every word, without saying one. the bus came after an hour and we took the ferry across the bay from sausalito back to the place where will eventually call our home. and we were alone in that city. you and me. but the buildings didn't seem so tall and the concrete didn't seem so cold and everytime you smiled i knew you meant it.
