The conduct of morale

Jun 08, 2006 08:38

1. Putting a 'face' to villainy: Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

2. International trade aggreements: Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony (not to mention, vital to the well being of rich corporate americas fat pockets)

3. Believing that unity matters: In reality, the UN has accomplished nothing, and lets put this in a time frame: EVER! The United States government has repeatedly told us that they are wasting time and money being a part of a worthless actionless organization and should get out of the United Nations all together, and yet our highest national priority right now is enforcing UN resolutions against Iraq and now Iran as if we have the right to tell another country what they can and cant do just because we belong to some 'world' organization, when it is convenient for us.

4. Personal Responsibility: A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multinational corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

5. Religious Hypocrites: Jesus loves you, and he shares your mindless pointless hatred of homosexuals (which in reality is actually self loathing).

6. Support Our Troops: The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay, and by putting stickers on your car while never actually thinking about them, and by wearing yellow ribbons that mean nothing while denying the truth and not paying benefits to over 7,000 families of US troops.

7. Sex Education: If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex. (Ignore the problem and it will go away)

8. International Support: A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our longtime allies, then demand their cooperation and money.

9. National HealthCare: Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy because it makes us think that they will actually like us at some point, which they never will. Yet, providing health care to all Americans is still considered socialism.

10. Scientific Fact: Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.

11. Presidential Words: A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense, while a president knowingly and willfully lying about another country having weapons of mass destruction so we can illegally invade them is completely fine and no one should even try to impeach him.

12. Using Politics for Personal Gain: Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

13. Personal Records of Public Figureheads: The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business.

14. Popularity and Religion: Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness, and you need our prayers for your recovery.

15. History is History: What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.
