Ah, the week of Thanksgiving. Growing up it was known for large feasts and playoff football for my family. As I grew older it was a time to, for some reason, to watch the Dolphins and Cowboys on TV, why they are the two teams who almost always play on Thanksgiving is beyond me. Cowboys I get, but why not the Redskins? Why not have the Cowboys vs. Redskins game every Thanksgiving, does that not make sense? How about a Patriots vs. Redskins game to celebrate the almost total genocide of my people, can we do that?
Now, I’m not going to go off on a rant about genocide or what the “white devil” did to us, it’s been done by others and probably much more efficiently. So what if those pilgrims would have died during the winter if not for the Native Americans and if the thanksgiving dinner was to sign a treaty between the two people, should we really care? Of course we should care; we should also know and be ashamed of what we did to an entire race of people. Yes, I understand that nations conquer but nothing like what they did in the Americas.
Where am I going with all of this, not really sure, perhaps it is merely the nervous energy I have about having to meet Anita’s parents in a mere two days. Yeah, a bit nervous but then I remember that parents love me. That, and apparently her parents are fighting over who is going to be easier on me. Yes, I said easier, it’s an odd concept no doubt. Regardless I will win them over with my superior cooking skills including the now infamous Pumpkin Dump Cake which has been sequestered by the host of the Thanksgiving Dinner we attended on Sunday. I would wonder if there will be any left when we go to retrieve the glass pan tomorrow, but I severely doubt it.
On a happier note, since it has been some time since I actually updated anything, and even more so when it wasn’t a political rant, I shall update on the personal life. Anita and I continue to defy odds and stupefy everyone by going on strong, if not stronger. We are extremely happy; words cannot express how much she means to me. I will squash any and all rumors right now that you will not see an engagement from us this holiday season so stop asking. She is the world to me and the best thing to ever happen to me. Also, if at all possible, she is clumsier then I am…evidence is the broken foot she currently has.
She is coming home with me for the holidays to meet my family, friends, family friends, local dog catcher, House Rep and the neighborhood hobo apparently. We may even get a meeting with the Govenator seeing as everyone else in the state of California wants to meet her. Luckily, other then my grandparents, all my Christmas shopping is done. Yes I, the man who usually does his Christmas shopping the week before the actual event, have completed my shopping a week BEFORE Thanksgiving and Black Friday alone. Whose house, runs house?
I, like many of you, have added a show to my viewing schedule. Of course it would be Heroes and like everyone I know my favorite character is Hiro. The show just seems to be getting better, specially with the rumor that Hiro’s father will be on the show and played by none other then…George Takei, yes Mr. Sulu is Hiro’s father. That, in the simplest term, rocks. I am also deeply saddened by the loss of Charlie, Hiro’s would be girlfriend, she was going to be my second favorite character and now all is sadness.
Smallville has been exceptional this year as well, specially the addition of the Green Arrow and Martian Manhunter. Yes, the creature we saw last week that saved Clark from Batista was none other then Martian Manhunter. I had speculated to others that it was either Firestorm or Vindicator, but I’m glad they introduce him right before the Justice League episode.
Speaking of people with powers, Marvel Ultimate Alliance is fucking money; I’ve had a blast playing that game. When you can make a team consisting of Wolverine, Deadpool, Thor and Ghost Rider, you know something in the world is right.
I’m feeling creative this week, maybe between the mixture of the show watching and going to see two of the eight movies to die for (The Grave Dancers and The Hamiltons) added in with the dose of the second best bond ever (fucking fabulous movie I highly recommend to all) I don’t know, but I feel like writing again. I am also going to start producing and making the DVDs for the EWA if my Christmas plans all come to fruition. With that, I plan on making my own video company for the creation of DVDs for wrestling and branching into the growing wedding videos market. Add a few concerts in there and right there you have a business.
That’s right, when we move to Houston the plan right now is for me to make my own video company to make Wrestling, wedding, football highlights and concert DVDs. I am toying with the name right now but the one I like at the current moment is Dementis Video. May be a bit weird when it comes to trying to get Wedding bookings, but I’ll play with it. So here is to hoping that I can create my own little business in Houston and really become productive as the misses.
