An Eschaton Review: Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

I went to see Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World on Friday...and I found it to be AWESOME!

I have read all of the comics, and after seeing the movie, I found it to be similar in form and function. Michael Cera's portrayal of Scott was spot on, and Kieran Culkin as Scott's gay roommate Wallace was pure genius, as he steals most of the scenes he's in (he has Jonboi-like comebacks. so good). Mary Elizabeth Winstead was perfect as Ramona, and captured the essence of the character perfectly.

Edgar Wright knows his stuff. While the love story is still a large component of the film, the fighting is the main drawing point. Instead of the fighting taking place along the timeline of a year or so like in the comic, the movie takes it all in more like a week or so, which makes sense and adds a never-ending battle to the whole thing. The tweaks of the evil exes, like Lucas Lee having a stunt team and the twins battling only with amps, are welcome and nice surprises. The whole movie is a cinematic masterpiece, and i recommend it for anyone.
