oh blissful weekend
i dont think i would exchange my weekends with friends in new york city for anything else...it's been a really fun few days. thursday i got to tavish's, jenn came over and we watched memento, gushed about boys, and played with bonnie. yesterday jenn and i went to the jj72 instore and met up with lesley, andrea, fotini, and the twins...i got to meet ronathan who is real cool. i was a nervous wreck about getting into the jarvis dj set at the slipper room since everyone was telling me that a lot of people were going to line up and that it would be difficult to get in. after the instore we stuck around for a bit, then i went and met up with shea.
shea came with me to the slipper room which wasn't too crowded and there was no line out the door like i expected...the id worked flawlessly and we stood in the corner talking over the loud speakers drinking. jarvis came on, i moved up a bit more to just watch him put on record after record while shea talked to some of his friends. i kept calling fo to check her status and called lesley and jenn up too. about halfway through i was a bit upset that i wasn't with any of my friends and got upset with myself for going to it in the first place and felt that i was being greedy.
that all went up in smoke with all the cigarette smoke in the room, there was a familiar little bald headed man standing near me, i tapped the girl next to me on the shoulder and asked if it was moby, she thought it was too...and we both decided that he was since he was drinking water. a little while after he just walked away and then jarvis gave out some pins to the front of the crowd, the cute boy that was standing behind me asked me what he was giving out and i told him that i thought they were pins, his friend got one and showed it to us - i then turned around again, only the boy tapped me on the shoulder and asked if i'd like a drink, we exchanged names and he went to get me a drink. when he got back we had a nice long coversation about music and shows and running into musicians on the street...he loves all that i do...b&s, sigur ros, radiohead, verve, mercury rev, strokes, moldy peaches, spritualized, etc etc etc. fo finally got in and we all chatted while watching jarvis finish his set. he came walking through the room once he finished and i tapped jarvis and said "good set" he looked at me through his funny old man glasses put his hand on my shoulder and said "pardon?" i repeated what i said and he replied "thank you thank you" Fo shook his hand and Bryan said a few words to him as well. It was all very nice..i wasnt even nervous when i spoke to him...i guess it was because i was so happy to have started talking to bryan.
bryan kept asking me to go to this show with him on tuesday, and i told him that i would go with him...he put my number in his cell phone, and i put his numbers in mine, he gave me a kiss on the cheek and we said our goodbyes. the rest of the time there consisted of me and fo gushing about jarvis and the very nice law student named brian. we dhanced some and left after the music got boring. it was a very nice night....
today tavish and i ran some errands, watched some sex and the city, ate chinese food, and i am now at jenns, we're going to sidewalk to see latch again. i hope toby or kimya are there!
