The final scenes of the final episode of season Five is unforgettable. I won't mention why, in case you haven't watched the show yet.

The Who - as a kid, I loved Who's Next, Tommy, Quadrophenia and The Who By NUmbers. As an adult with a less overwrought perspective on life, they sound very shallow to me know (except for about half of the songs on Who's Next). And The Who Sell Out just sounds better and better.

(Also, the albums the Kinks were cutting in the same time, late 60's to mid 70's, sound better and better, too - and they're mostly not considered 'classics' like those Who records).

Well said about the Who. I feel the same way. Except that I never much like Who By Numbers (except However Much I Booze and Red Blue & Grey). But all that teeth-gnashing, power-chord stuff I loved so much as a younger person doesn't work for me as much. Even though Who Sell Out should sound dated (parody of old commercials? Radio London? psychedelic production that has the voice on one side and the instruments on the other?), but it doesn't. Great songs, I guess.

The fake advertisements and BBC announcements don't sound at all dated to me, I guess because the album is so well thought out that the record integrates the songs and parodies seamlessly. (I cannot say the same of Phil Rizzuto on Bat Out of Hell.)

Ah c'mon, that song wouldn't be the same without Scooter taking it from the ridiculous to the sublime. Perhaps my most painful Achilles heel is the Jim Steinman, 10-minute opus; I've loved every one I've heard with the exception of the Celine Dion one. I even liked the Air Supply tune. There, I've admitted it; attempt not to think less of me.

and, yeah, I realize I mispelled 'overwrought.'

All good things. Now whatever you do don't blow it by going to see Beverly Hills Chihuahua!

I only take my kids to movies it looks like I could stand, and 'BH Chihuahua' is clearly not on that list.
