Miho tossed a duffel bag over the landing, hoping the robes she'd packed on the bottom would cushion its fall, then ran the rest of the way down the stairs as the phone rang. It was highly unlikely anyone else was up yet, and she didn't want to bother them. So she grabbed the phone and said, "What?"

Parker frowned, having expected to get Becky. Cautiously she asked, "Miho? It's Parker."

Miho sighed. "//Did you leave your underwear?//"

Parker glared at the phone.

"//No. I always remember it.//"

[deadly_little]

"//Good. Because I am not bringing it to you.//"

[mparkerceo]

"//As if I'd ask you... I called because Jarod's birthday is next week. On Friday.//"

"//Will there be cake? Oh, which do you think should go first? Disembowelment, or castration?//"

"//I was going to order one, yes. And ice cream.//" Parker blinked at that juxtaposition, and decided that in spite of the phrasing, no, Jarod was not the intended victim. "//...that depends on whether you want to frighten him or humiliate him more. Although, I'd say castration either way. I understand some people go straight into shock from disembowelent.//"

"//Ooh, ice cream. I was leaning toward castration first, but it's always nice to get a second opinion on these things, don't you think?//"

"//Second opinions do help you make better decisions, sometimes. Especially when either alternative seems effective.//" Parker thought this was a really disturbing conversation on some levels. Probably because she was handling it a little too well.

"//And there should be presents too, I hope, if you and Becky can make it. He's never had a real birthday party before. It's supposed to be a masquerade. But nothing complicated.//"

"//A masquerade?//" Miho pondered. Perhaps she could go as Gail. Or Dwight. She could wear a trenchcoat and brood. "//Yes, of course there will be presents. I should be back by then.//"

"//Good. And where are you going?//" Parker asked, then winced. "//And I apologize in advance-- I won't be in Tuesday's class this week.//"

"//Home. I have someone to kill for a friend. You'll miss the crossbows.//"

"//Damn. I was looking forward to those.//" Parker sighed. "//Good luck in your endeavor. Let Becky know she is invited as well. Caritas, Friday night. Oh, and Mr. Bluth specified no cop costumes.//" Parker's smirk was probably audible. "//I can't imagine why.//"
