Who is your favorite Beatle?

Now, while I can understand all the opinions (except Paul. Whatever that's about), mine is definitely Ringo. Ringo! Yea, he was a mediocre drummer, the least-talented song-writer as well as the least attractive. But the thing is, John, Paul and George were geniuses, each of them would have been the most talented member of any band that they could have otherwise ended up in. So it was three geniuses and a moderately talented drummer. Possibly the biggest part of The Beatles' genius is in their innovation and their production... they got as experimental as many of the most experimental pop bands. By the end of their run as a band, when they were releasing some of their finest material, the only thing that grounded their experimentation in pop-music was Ringo's drumming. It had to be simple, Ringo wasn't really a 7/8 time kinda-guy. Their rhythms had to stay grounded in the pop-music canon, 4/4, 2/4, 3/4, etc. If The Beatles had either a genius for a drummer or a mastery of drum machines, they could have ended up like Radiohead -- brilliant, but often too obtuse. By keeping The Beatles from straying too far from popular music, Ringo is responsible for cementing their legacy.
