in which Nick watches Movies: Your Highness AND Thor

Got a bit behind, there. My bad.

Your Highness

Things I Liked:
- Natalie Portman's ass remains a fine, fine example.
- It at times had some clever bits. Mostly in villain dialog.

Things I Didn't Like:
- It was pretty inexcusably stupid. I mean, I get that it was a stoner comedy taking on D&D jokes, but fucking a' - it was just stupid for the SAKE of being stupid at times.
- I still think Zoe Dechanel is a terrible actress.

Verdict:
Honestly, it reminded me a lot of my D&D group at the jokes we make....or, rather, made. When I was 14.

Thor

Things I Liked:
- It was a surprisingly spot-on representation of Thor.
- I'm unfamiliar with the woman who played Sif, but yowza. Not normally my type.
- More Portman!
- Kat Dennings was fucking HILARIOUS. "MwahMwah" was the line of the movie.
- Pretty decent CG.
- Hawkeye!
- Tons of neat little asides in the Vault. Plus Donald Blake! Plus Styzinkski!

Things I Didn't Like:
- For as exposition-heavy as the movie was, it didn't do ENOUGH to make the Realms well-explained.
- Given that the rest of the Marvel movies (well, save Ghost Rider and FF) seem to have been based in the Ultimate Universe, I was sort of hoping for that version of Mjolnir instead of the basic square hammer we got.
- Loki was great until the scene after the credits, which was uniformly pretty shitty.

Verdict:
Eh. It was alright - worth a matinee. Don't bother with the 3D.
