in which Nick watches Movies: The Box

Things I Liked about this Movie:
- The first half - it was dark, creepy, and subtle.
- The score.
- The casting, despite the egregious accents of the two leads.
- The callbacks to both the original short story AND the Twilight Zone episode/short.
- All the neat stuff going on in the background of most scenes.
- The build up was exquisite.

Things I Did Not Like about this Movie:
- Pretty much the entire 2nd half - right about from the scene with the 2 guys on the bridge/tower thing and after.
- Specifically, the scene in which NSA guy says to Mr. Steward "So, you mentioned X before" and Mr. Steward replies, "Why yes, X is blah blah blah." and they both nod quietly. Really? Nice plot-dump, Richard Kelly.
- The big end "twist" and explanation. It didn't live up to the hype the first half generated.
- Honestly, I didn't like how the whole plot was basically fully explained in the last 5 minutes. It was ridiculously insulting to the audience, and it seems to be a common theme with R. Kelly's movies. I loved Donnie Darko until I watched it with the commentary on and found out Donnie was, apparently, a superhero.

Verdict:
Go see it as a matinée and leave when the wedding starts. Or just rent it in 3 months.
