Cold Warsaw...

The last 48 hours of this trip have been the ugliest so far. After blazing through Japan without a moment of disgust or dis-interest, we found ourselves at Frankfurt Airport, and happier than happy little elves that we had decided to fly straight through to Poland. The airport seemed like it was under renovation, but had a long way to go, the ( Read more... )

Having lived in Krakow for 2 years now, allow me to decode Poland for you. People aren't particularly racist or xenophobic here, however they are terribly curious. Polish culture is pretty homogenous overall but Polish people generally love foreigners, especially Westerners and what you might construe as disgust is actually quiet awe.

And in general the public has nothing against checking others out on the street, they do it to each other, they're definitely gonna do it to you.

The one thing that really fucks me off here is the attitude of people in the shops. Though you've gotta take into account they're earning 5 zloty an hour or less.

In Krakow, definitely spend some good time in Kazimierz, the Jewish quarter.

Fantastic.

Thank you for the insight. I was curious as to whether or not the odd 'treatment' we felt we were receiving was exclusive to foreigners, or just the general plot for social interaction, as most everyone, coffee shop patrons especially, have been exceptionally sweet after talking to them. That being said, the police truly live up tp the mantra "PIG, pig, pig", rude, disgusting huge men.

I'm looking forward to Krakow, and actually seeing some Jewish places and people.

Thanks again!

If ya'll wanna meet for a coffee and behind the scenes advice about Krakow, then we should organise something. If you ring me or email me then we can set up a rendezvous point. Krakow is 100 times nicer than Warsaw.

Great! Both Joel Andersen and Damien Coward advised that we try and meet up with you. We're catching the train in today at around 12 from Warszawa, and staying at the Jump-Inn hostel. We'll be sure to take you up on your coffee offer while in lovely Krakow.

Thanks Owen,

Christopher.

Super, your hostel is extremely close to my digs, if you guys are gonna be at the hostel tonight at about 9:20pm I'll drop in on the way back from work and maybe we can do something, depending on your energy levels. Let me know if that suits ya'll.

...Kool Keith. I'll email you the moblie number we're using whilst we are abroad. If you're up for showing us somewhere neat to eat and have a drink tonight, that would be supreme. We can meet you somewhere, or if you're happy to come by here and scoop our fat asses that's good too. Just give us a time that's good for you.
Christos.
