And in general the public has nothing against checking others out on the street, they do it to each other, they're definitely gonna do it to you.
The one thing that really fucks me off here is the attitude of people in the shops. Though you've gotta take into account they're earning 5 zloty an hour or less.
In Krakow, definitely spend some good time in Kazimierz, the Jewish quarter.

Thank you for the insight. I was curious as to whether or not the odd 'treatment' we felt we were receiving was exclusive to foreigners, or just the general plot for social interaction, as most everyone, coffee shop patrons especially, have been exceptionally sweet after talking to them. That being said, the police truly live up tp the mantra "PIG, pig, pig", rude, disgusting huge men.
I'm looking forward to Krakow, and actually seeing some Jewish places and people.
