the Demise of Easley McCain Recording Studio
I just received news that the historic Easley McCain Recording Studio here in Memphis burned down around 2pm today. Easley McCain recorded many many Memphis and National Artists alike- everyone from Big Star to Modest Mouse to Cat Power to Sonic Youth, all of the current Makeshift Artists, and so many more. All of the equipment was lost, as was all recordings past and present. The fire was started by some sort of electrical surge, no one was hurt. Easley has been an integral part in Memphis Music for decades. This is a big thing. Wow, I'm pretty speechless.
