[Fic] Colin/Bradley - Home

Feb 03, 2010 15:50

This is a silly little fic I wrote; it's purely selfindulgent. I was in the mood for fluffy and sugary sweet and so-very-in-love Braldey and Colin... And this is what happened lol. Also happy to write non-card'verse for a change :) (Not that I'm getting tired of card'verse already - it's just nice to have a different kind of Colin and Bradley to write; every once in a while^^)

Title: Home
Author: slowdead
Pairing: Bradley/Colin (Merlin RPS)
Rating: soft R
Genre: AU - FLUFF
Word count: ~2.000
Disclaimer: This never happened, I'm just writing this for fun, no money is being made with this fic.
Summary: They spend all their money on their very first house together; and it's basically the best thing they've ever done.

Colin and Bradley spend literally everything they have -and a lot of money they don’t have- on their first house together. It’s in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by acres and acres of land, and when the sun sets over of the hills it colors everything a beautiful orange.

Admittedly it still needs a lot of work, but they don’t exactly mind. They kind of fell in love with it at first sight.

There’s no furniture yet, no pots and pans, and no paint on the walls. There’s only them and a king-size mattress in the middle of the room that will once be their bedroom.

They have the kind of parties their friends will talk about for years to come. No neighbors to complain or call the police about the music being too loud, nothing their guests can possibly break, and all the booze the both of them could carry into the big open space that will once be the kitchen. They escape in the middle of the party to go to their room (and their mattress.) Not drunk, but a pleasant buzz going through their veins all the same as Colin crawls on Bradley’s lap, pressing wet and insistent kisses all over his jaw, and rides him.

Bradley likes it best like this, likes kissing and biting at Colin’s neck, likes the way it makes Colin scratch at his back and whisper his name over and over again.

When they run out of clothes they make the trip to the small village close by and spend their afternoon filling out crossword puzzles while they watch their laundry tumble around in the big washing machines in the Laundromat. Bradley insists on filling out the crosswords by himself, covering his ears and singing loudly whenever Colin tries to help him. Colin grins and tells Bradley he doesn’t get why Bradley does that, he always ends up folding anyway.

Just like he does again this time; Bradley looks down at the crossword puzzle sheepishly while Colin kisses his cheek and whispers the right words in his ear.

Bradley spends his next paycheck on paint, gets all the different colors Colin’s been talking about and surprises him with them. Bradley gets out of bed (mattress) in the middle of the night and brings all the hidden cans up to their room. Colin wakes Bradley up by pressing kisses all over his face -his nose, his eyelids, his brow- and giving him a blowjob that makes Bradley’s eyes roll back in his head and his toes curl in the sheets.

They spend the next weekend painting all the rooms of the house a different color.

Colin wears one of Bradley’s old shirt, the one that smells like Bradley (and makes Bradley’s eyes go a little frantic whenever he sees Colin wearing it.) Bradley pins Colin’s hands above his head on the newspaper covered floor of their soon-to-be living room and kisses him, a little frantic. He makes Colin keep the shirt on, (his hand slapping Colin’s eager ones as they grip the edge of the shirt.) Colin’s eyes widen and he nods, mumbles yeah, yeah. Colin keeps nodding and moans as Bradley slides two fingers inside him while biting down on that sensitive spot where his neck meets his shoulder.

Later, as they’re lying on the newspapers - still panting- Colin grins at Bradley and tells him purple was exactly the right color for the living room. It’s just like he’d always imagined.

One rainy Monday they go out and buy a bed. Once they’re back from the store -in their bedroom, boxes and plastic everywhere- and trying to assemble the damn thing it doesn’t go as smoothly as Bradley had hoped. Bradley doesn’t read the manual at first, and when he tries to later on (after the bed is already halfway, incorrectly, assembled) it still won’t work and soon Bradley’s throwing his screwdriver against the wall and storming out of the house, into the garden.

Colin suspects that part of the reason why Bradley had insisted on getting this place was because of the gigantic garden; Bradley had grown up in a small house with a big garden, Colin in a big house and always missing a garden (and a sibling to play with.) Now they’ve both got what they wanted; a gigantic grass field, and trees and plants surrounding the whole area. It still needs a lot of work but Colin knows they can turn it into something amazing.

Colin finds Bradley sulking on the abandoned, rundown swing set and kisses the top of his head. “We should have gotten that couch instead.” Bradley mumbles. Colin kisses him again and says: “We’ll sleep on the mattress one last night, and figure the bed out tomorrow, okay?”

They sit there in silence for a while, listening to the birds and the quietness, when Bradley suddenly mumbles: “I’m gonna miss that mattress.”

“I know,” Colin smiles sadly and lets Bradley pull him on his lap.

The first kitchen appliance they get is a water boiler.

They really should have gotten a microwave first; all the take-away and sandwiches are making Bradley go a bit flabby. (Colin tries to tell Bradley that’s because he always orders the greasiest thing on the menu instead of getting a salad every once in a while, like Colin does. He also tells Bradley that if they get a microwave Bradley will just get the greasiest microwave meals he can find, which will just lead to the same outcome. Bradley tunes him out and fantasizes about those TV dinners with the corn he likes so much.)

Facts are though that Colin really can’t go without his cup of tea in the morning, and a water boiler is cheaper either way.

Bradley watches Colin take a sip from the first cup of tea he’s ever had in their house, and chews his salami sandwich dejectedly. They really could have done with a microwave, and not even the smile on Colin’s face can make Bradley want a nice steaming plate of frozen lasagna any less.

The moan Colin let’s out after that first sip though? That perks Bradley right up.

“Are you gonna stop being grumpy every morning now?” Bradley asks him, nudging Colin’s foot with his own as they sit cross-legged on a blanket on the kitchen floor.

Colin gives him a face that Bradley translates as: Whatever are you talking about, Bradley? I am perfectly mannered and therefore never grumpy. Bradley actually quite likes the fact that he’s about the only person who ever gets to see Colin grumpy. Now that he thinks about it, he’s gonna miss grumpy Colin; grumpy Colin huffed and glared and, frankly, made Bradley grow quite hot.

They’d always refused to take any money from their parents. Bradley’s parents didn’t have money to just give away, to begin with, and while Colin’s did, they’d had just wanted to do this by themselves.

On Bradley’s birthday Colin’s mother gets them the nightstands that match with their bed, and a table and chairs for the kitchen. Bradley’s parents get him cutlery and a really nice table set.

Later, when their friends arrive, things don’t really improve.

Colin knows that Bradley wanted a Playstation 3, a plasma TV, a subscription to his favorite magazine and possibly heaps of candy; but still he accepts all his presents with a smile and a hug. He even gives Colin the thumbs up when he unwraps the set of placemats and those kitchen knives Katie got him, because Colin was telling him how they really needed to invest in some of those soon and of course Bradley remembered.

Colin hasn’t felt this guilty before in his whole life.

When everybody leaves they go up to their bedroom, which now has nightstands, lamps and even an alarm clock. Colin tries not to regret them too much because they really were nice gifts. It’s just not fair that Bradley didn’t get anything just for him.

“I like them,” Bradley smiles softly, looking at their nightstands.

“Yeah?” Colin asks, straddling Bradley’s lap and kissing the top of his head.

“They’re nice, they fit, somehow. Make the room look better.”

They sit like that for a while, staring at the nightstands.

“Want my present now?” Colin asks eventually.

Bradley nods desperately and starts unbuttoning Colin’s shirt, nosing at the revealed skin. Colin laughs and moves away from Bradley’s lap, “That’s not your present.” Colin says. Bradley pouts and reaches out for Colin anyway, and Colin really wants to let him but then his present wouldn’t be ready before his birthday’s over and that’s just not going to happen.

Colin leaves Bradley in their room and goes to the bathroom to set everything up.

Colin knows that Bradley secretly loves their Bathroom more than any other room of their house, more than their garden even. Bradley has a thing for taking hot and relaxing baths, and the bathtub they have now is gorgeous. The only problem is that they don’t have any hot water yet, the installation’s quite expensive and they’ve contented themselves with cold showers during the unusually hot summer anyway.

About an hour later Colin gets Bradley.

Bradley eyes the bathtub suspiciously, and even though he can see the steam rise from the water he still hesitantly dips his hand in it. The water’s hot and Bradley feels a shudder of want go through his body.

“You got someone to fix the hot water?” Bradley asks Colin, eyes wide and happy.

Colin can’t help but grin at that. “Not exactly, there’s no hot water yet.”

“Then how did you do this?”

Colin points at the water boiler, still plugged in in the corner of the bathroom.

“Oh my god, you’re crazy.” Bradley whispers, clearly amused. And yeah, still happy.

“That’s why it’s only half full.” Colin tells him, “Now get in before the water cools down.”

Bradley doesn’t need to be told twice, strips out of his clothes and sinks down in the hot water with a throaty moan. “Oh god, I lovemet in a bathtub after all.”

“We met in a pool, Bradley.”

“Which is basically a really, really big bathtub.”

Colin laughs, “A really big bathtub in which you tried to drown me.”

Bradley opens one of his eyes a little and glares, “I was fifteen, what else was I supposed to do with the realization that maybe I really wanted to kiss that boy with those cute ears.”

Colin grins at the memory, at the way Bradley tells the story to whoever’s interested in hearing, and leans in to kiss Bradley.

Bradley puts his wet hands in Colin’s hair and kisses back. “Get in here.” He says huskily.

“There’s no room.”

“I’ll make room,” And Bradley pulls at his arms and his shirt -at everything he can reach really- until Colin falls in the bathtub with him, water spilling over the edges of the tub, on their bathroom floor.

Colin lets out a throaty laugh and clings at Bradley as best he can while Bradley tries to get Colin out of his soaking clothes. Colin keeps getting in the way by kissing Bradley’s lip, his jaw and his cheeks; it’s making Bradley a little desperate. “I’ve loved you ever since that first time I saw you, your hair sticking to your face and those ridiculous swim shorts.” He whispers in Colin’s ear. And all Colin can do is nod against Bradley’s jaw and kiss his earlobe while his chest floods with warmth.

They spend their next paychecks on fixing the hot water and getting Bradley that subscription to his favorite magazine.
