Sorry if this offends anyone....
Ok, ever since my mom decided that she wanted me to go to Marian, I've known it was a bad idea. I have huge problems with organized religion, especially the catholic faith. I mean, the last time someone tried to get me to go to church, I handcuffed myself to a weight bench! Almost every belief I have is totally opposite that of the catholic faith. I also hate how damn hypocritical and dishonest everyone is. Perfect example, sex-ed class in freshmen year. There's a whole chapter about homosexuality, and the basic sentiment of the whole thing is that it's ok for people to be attracted to members of the same sex, but they can't EVER act on that attraction. Why, you might ask? Because god says it's a no-no. How the fuck do these people know what god wants. They don't. There's also this big emphasis placed on abstinence and the catholic church's stance against birth control and abortion. While I feel that there is nothing wrong with abstinence, I think that it is absolutely irresponsible for any school, religious or otherwise, to place a demeaning connotation on legitimate forms of contraception. All of this was brought about by an announcement about some anti-abortion thing today. If you haven't already guessed, I'm pro-choice. The reason that I'm pro-choice is simple; If I was in that situation, I would want a choice. Now I understand that a catholic school totally supports anti-abortion causes, but it still pisses me off. I need to get a pro-choice patch so i can wear it around school and piss people off. I think I would look perfect on my purse, right next to my "This what a feminist looks like" patch.
