Musicians Wanted...

Right now I'm looking for a tight, solid collaborator to help with future song-writing and harmonizing. The music style is basically power-pop (layered dynamics, catchy hooks and loud). We got accused a lot of the time for sounding like The Replacements, and old Husker Du, but we're also catchy/pop with a songwriting style similar to Johnny Rezenik's (of the Goo Goo Dolls). Some other influences are Teenage Fanclub, Big Star, The Posies, Pixies, Mary Lou Lord, Mathew Sweet, Connells, Lemonheads, etc. (just to name a few) but like to play anything within the emo/indie/pop/rock kinda vein.

While I'm looking for a solid guitarist to collaborate with, to compliment and back up my guitar playing (as far as the 'wall of sound' goes), I'm REALLY looking to eventually get some tight vocal harmonies going, once the project resumes momentum [one thing DEC always lacked with our last line up]. I have lots of connections here in Portland and play solo gigs a lot, but would really like to start playing out as a 'full band' relatively soon.

Just some background on the project, the original DEC have recently disbanded and I've taken some time off from playing out (mainly for a break and to write and record some new songs), but I'd like to get back into the swing of things. My old drummer Jenni [who used to do 'some' harmonies w/ me] is now playing for the all-girl Sugar Free and my old bassist is now playing for the up and coming Sophie Lux.

If you want you can go ahead and check out the highly outdated website: www.deadendcrush.com and hear a sample of my songwriting and singing. Listen to the song 'Noel'. The other ones are live from like our first show two years ago (I have no idea why we kept them on there).

Anyway, let me know if any of this sounds vaguely what you're looking for, and maybe you could tell me a little bit more about yourself. I'll try and give you a call today, and maybe we can swap CD's. That'd be cool.
