I haven't read any books, but seen many biographies and documentaries to believe that she was murdered. Everyone tends to think she had an overdose on drugs, although she was taking many depression and sleeping pills, I believe she did not die from that. For instance, Elvis, died because of the many prescribed medications he was taking, if Marilyn did the same, don't you think her body would have gained weight as Elvis's did?
Her housekeeper would see Marilyn every day and every night. She noticed that Marilyn kept a little red book, as a journal or diary when she was having these affairs with the Kennedys. The theory is that she was murdered by someone(s) assoicated with the Kennedys because Marilyn knew too many family secrets or so, all that was kept in her little book. Why would that book be missing after her death if she killed herself?
Then we look at the fact her body was tossled, giving the appearance of a struggle of some kind. Now, others say when you overdose in drugs, your body would go into some kind of struggle, so it depends on how you look at it. Her death is a mystery, but I really don't think she would ever kill herself.
...yeah...and she had 'threatened' to give a press conference on the Monday to 'tell all' from her red book about the Kennedys. Coincidence that she died the weekend before she could do that?? No way.
I have read a lot about it but they're so conflicting - the Donald Wolfe book (The Assassination of Marilyn Monroe) really brings it all together. It SEEMS pretty clear that she did not die in her bedroom like she was found - that she was injected with something in the guest house on her property (probably to calm her down, but it got out of hand), she was taken to hospital by ambulance but she died on the way - naturally everyone involved panicked - she was taken back to the house, put in her bed, the whole scene was 'staged' and everything incriminating was removed - like the red book.
The thing about the struggle - apparently her house was bugged (not surprising considering who she was connected to, the Kennedys, mafia people and Sinatra...) - there are people who have heard the tapes of the last day of her life. In those tapes a struggle can be heard and what sounds like somebody hitting her several times - also the voices of two men, one of which is thought to have been Robert Kennedy. He and whoever the other man was are supposed to have visited her that last day to try and persuade her to keep her mouth shut and calm her down - it didn't work and she got more upset, so a fight started. It's thought that two men (probably RK again and someone else) went back later that night to try again. I don't know if I think they went there intending to kill her or not - but whatever, I think they did kill her. I don't think Robert Kennedy actually killed her, but I think he was there when it happened and he may as well have done. She's also meant to have been pregnant by him very recently before she died and had an abortion - I think I should shut up now...it makes me so angry and so sad - I hate to think that they got away with it forever and some people will always think she committed suicide.
I know...it really really makes me sad when I think about it. If you ever get a chance to read that Donald Wolfe book, I really think you'd enjoy it - well, enjoy isn't the right word exactly - but...I don't know, I'd been confused for years with everything I'd read and when I read his book it felt like everything just fell into place.
...oh (I just can't shut up!) and there's another book by someone called Donald Spoto which is probably the WORST one I've ever read. He tries to convince his readers that she never ever even met either of the Kennedys. He was doing a talk show on a radio station here once and I actually managed to get through! I asked him how he could possibly write a book covering up her connections with the Kennedys...actually I can't remember what he said! ...uhh I have it on tape somewhere...but I can't bear to hear my voice! It was a bunch of crap anyway...what he said, that much I do remember.
Actually I think I might be doing him a disservice - I don't think he did deny that there are certainly photos of her WITH the Kennedys (bit hard to deny that) - but his explanation for that is that they just happened to be in the same place at the same time and end up in the same photo. I wonder how he explains Marilyn singing Happy Birthday at JFK's birthday bash....I can't remember now. Now I feel like I want to re-read it...sigh.
