Just a heads-up to let you guys know that
Stone Telling is open for subs. We're committed to being a platform for multiple perspectives and for marginalized voices, and to getting intersectionality as right as we can :)
We tend to publish poems that are both carefully crafted and emotionally intense/raw. We're not terribly keen on rhymed poetry, because we don't think it's often done well, but we have published one or two rhymed pieces, and a few more with rhymed sections. We've published some awesome poets of color so far, including but not limited to
Meena Kandasamy,
Nisi Shawl,
J.T. Stewart,
Jennifer Givhan,
Eliza Victoria,
Sofia Samatar,
Na'amen Tilahun, and
Amal El-Mohtar; we're really excited about their work, but we'd also love to find MOAR poets of color whose work fits our aesthetic. (Speaking personally, I feel so damn bouncy about other spec poets of color!)
So if you're a poet, do please consider us :) And if not, but you feel like signal boosting, we'd love that.
The upcoming issue is unthemed, so
send us anything, The reading period goes till June 10th. But don't wait till then! We make some of our decisions earlier, and they affect later ones since we want to have poems that play well together.
