lol

I'm glad you like it.

TOS has some real strengths and charms.

If you're interested, you can watch eps at joost (ad-free) or cbs (which cleaned up after the Writers Guild Strike and makes money off of ad revenues for ST among many others).

Fandom is killing me with their resistance to Uhura/Spock. It's all so formless and ambiguous, but the underlying vibe is "How could our good, clean Spock want that black bitch nobody over Kirk?" To fandom, I want to say, "Your bullshit racism/misogyny is showing."

I also can't believe all the Spock/Kirk nuSlash talk I'm hearing when the obvious slash pairing is Kirk/McCoy this time around.

People just want to force nuST into that old paradigm no matter how illogical that is. Old Trek had three main relationships: Kirk-Spock, Kirk-McCoy, and Kirk-Spock-McCoy. nuST has Kirk-McCoy, Kirk-Spock, and Kirk-Spock-Uhura. Yeah, that's right: a black woman is a member of the nuTrek Triad, so suck it, bitches.

*sigh*

I am saddened. Like, really? It *really* bugs you that Spock could show/share emotion with a woman while neither high nor sick? And, the friendship, the love between Spock and Jim, it's there. With the added wonder that there's Spock Prime who is brimming with love and generosity and self-acceptance. I think, the possibilities are endless.

But yeah, it's also fully-actualized, heroic, high-achieving, black woman whose milkshake is bringing the men to her yard. Even Scotty was all, "...The Vulcan pulled that? Solid."

So.

You're welcome. :)

I adore this reboot. They keep canon continuity and finally have a timeline change that *sticks*.

I want to know what young Katherine Janeway is doing. I want to see Dax. I want... Just. Wow.

Not that this is a big nod in favor of the pairing, but I believe it was in Nichols' memoir that said that the Kirk/Uhura kiss was originally scripted as Spock/Uhura. It was only after Shatner found out that it would go down in history that he asked it be changed.

I have always loved all S/U moments! When I heard about the new film and "that" scene, I said ABOUT TIME to myself (and anyone that would listen).

Watching that second clip in mind of the movie now, there's so much "Don't mess with me while I'm in the Big Chair, woman! You know they watching me! We gon' talk about this tonight!" Or, it might just be me and that's okay too.

Yo.

On the transporter pad.
Before they went to Nero's ship.
After the goodbye smooch/booty caress.

KIRK: "So, her name is Nyota?"
translataion: "You're hitting that?!!"

SPOCK: "I do not wish to speak on this matter."
translation: "I already beat ya' ass once..."

I'M JUST SAYIN'.
