On M. Night Shyamalan

Have you seen the trailer for his new movie The Happening?

Reminds me of Stephen King's Cell and Suicide Circle, but beyond that something else troubles me. Why do ALL of his stories reflect the white mainstream experience?

I think it's understandable that most of his movies do. I understand the Hollywood mentality, of if it's not white, it won't sell.

But he didn't cast Sarita Choudary in any role (and it's not like Hollywood is knocking down her door) until Lady in The Water and then cast himself as her brother instead of actual Indian-American actor that wouldn't get many casting opportunities otherwise, like say Kal Penn.

Look, I'll be the first to say everyone is an individual and has less a responsibility to their race, then to themselves, but...This is ridiculous.

Hollywood isn't rushing out to make movies about Indian-Americans.

Bruce Willis, Mel Gibson, Mark Walberg? For real? WTF? Shyamalan?

Now, I'm not mad at him (unless it's about feeling gypped by a ludicrous twist-ending). Like I said, he needs to get his, but I am perplexed, by this. I keep hoping has an Indian-centric movie planned for the future.
