I am freaking exhausted. I don't even know why I came to work. I got an extra shot of espresso in my latte today hoping maybe it'll jolt me a little, though I know that coffee really doesn't affect me.

So the reason for all this - fire/smoke alarms & power failure.

2 Transformers on 10th & Cherry/Arch blew on Saturday, resulting in a loss of power for a good portion of Chinatown and we were part of that. The power was out from 3pm-midnight. I was in Baltimore, so all it really did to me was make me drive home later since 10th & Arch were blocked off and there was no parking available since they wouldn't let you park on 9th across from us for a while too. So I got home at midnight just as the power was restored, so not that bad.

Everything seemed to be better and they were working on the problem. At 730pm last night the power went out again. We decided to go out and check it out and get something to drink. Around 9 I called PECO and they said about 500 were without power and it would be restored at 11pm. 11 came and gone and we fell asleep...only to be woken up at midnight by our fire/smoke alarm blaring for no reason. Only ours was going off too, and it would go off and then stop and then go off again, so we walked down to the firehouse to see if there was anything they could help us out with. They apparently were not even aware that our power wasn't restored yet (pretty much everyone elses was) and that after an hour of no power the fire system shouldn't even go off so we were stumped. And of course we got a full time maintance guy recently, but noone was given his name/number. Management here sucks.

We got back home and figured out how to reset it, took out the battery and went to sleep. 3:30am the power comes on and I'm awoken by light (we left on the bathroom light so we would know when it came on and would shut the windows. The alarm proceeded to GO OFF AGAIN UGH! The instant the power came on, there went the alarm. We stumbled around and press the reset button a million times and it finally stopped....but it makes no sense at all why it went off and only ours. I had horrible trouble falling asleep after that - hence why I am exhausted.

Have to call management and have them check out the alarms cause that can't happen again. The second one woke up and freaked out Hitomi and she started meowing - and she only ever meows when I'm about to feed her. Anata just stayed under the couch the whole night after it went off the first time, to afraid to come out and hear that loud piercing noise.

and now I'm at work...

UGH UGH UGH UGH.
