Aww, thank you so much for the sweet words and the thoughtful response. I'm so glad that you loved it, and I'm very grateful for your feedback.
I do think talking about what he went through will help him. Though he hasn't told Sam about the 40 yrs part yet...
I think it's imperative that he talks to Sam; he doesn't have anyone else, not really. I struggled with the 40 years issue and then decided that I would leave it for now; I thought Dean would have to work up for it. And hey, yays for something to put in the sequel! ;)
Now I just have to imagine that the apocalypse is averted-no Lucifer. And since Sam promised to stay away from Ruby, I think that might happen! Yay!
Yes! That's what I'm hoping, too. I actually started this fic during the hiatus between seasons three and four, and it took me a long time to write, so during S4, I kept wondering if Sam was right, and if maybe I should change my fic to have Sam embrace his bad self. It was really interesting to me how that all ended up in canon, and in a sense made my fic work even better.
I'm glad that you liked the end (yay happy ending!) and Dean's realizations about his father. I felt very strongly about those things, and I'm happy to see it worked for you.
