It's not that I think that Sam necessarily deserves to be cut some slack, or that I thought it was bad writing, or that I'm even opposed to it, narrative-wise. It's just that it upset me, is all.

I can actually see Dean feeling that way, and understandably so, but as Ostara and I were discussing, Sam was basically an addict last season, and doing the horrible things that addicts do when they're not in their right minds. Sam didn't sit down, all normal and healthy, and make a pro/con list to help him decide; he was running on drug and withdrawal fueled instinct.

Also, what got him there in the first place was logical; he could use the power he had to kill demons and save people. It made sense, and from a strictly logical point of view, Dean was wrong, or at least he was operating from a point of intuition. Of course, Sam was wrong and Dean was right, but all in all, Sam wasn't being malicious or intentionally bringing on the apocalypse.

Of course, I can totally understand why Dean would react this way. He can't get past the sense of betrayal.

But, but, but... It hurts!

P.S. I'm actually a Dean Girl, so it's not that I must find a way to absolve Sammy so that I can go on adoring him. It's just how I see it.

No, you're absolutely right. It's what I think too, only you said it better. Plus, as a Sam girl, I do believe he should be forgiven. But not immediately because I'm actually looking forward to watching them rebuild their relationship and trust.
