Kink Bingo and the Writing Process

Jul 24, 2009 15:26

I signed up for Kink Bingo. I don't know to what extent I'll really participate, but I just love the idea; it sounds like so much fun! Plus, I thought that instead of some of my woe-filled rambles, it might be good to use those little fics for my Write or Die warm-ups. (I use WoD for warm-ups before 'real' writing sessions, just to get in the flow.)

I'm still waiting for my card. It's been a couple of days. The mods stated in the sign-up post that it might take a few days, so I'm not complaining, but I'm just excited and want to see it. I was hoping to write my first ficlet during this warm-up, but I don't want to jump the gun and just cross my fingers in hopes that I do get blahblahphilia or yadayadamania.

But, man, I wants me some kink!

Additionally, I consulted a page from my writer's block resource that I hadn't read before for some reason. It's advice from prolific writers, and the first piece of advice that has a large consensus is to avoid focusing too intensely on one project: "Don't obsess on one thing -- have more than one project going at a time and if you get stuck on one, move to another." Now, I've generally avoided having more than one project on the go at the same time, thinking that it would worsen the situation, but now I'm rethinking that.

Of course, I really, really want to keep working on "Bury Me In Fire" and finish it as quickly as I can. But I do think that the Kink Bingo mini-fics as warm-ups might help to boost my confidence as opposed to being distractions. What do y'all think?

Now if that card would just come...

kink, kink bingo, write or die, ficness, big bang, writing challenge
