insert rush-hour-mind-wandering-dream here:

the world came to a fiery end today while i sat in traffic on the edens expressway. it started with a distant popping sound. that sound travelled as a wave of unknown origin and landed in my tim-panic membrane just a split second before i saw the entire sky burst into flames. it look as if it was burning down the layers of the atmosphere, making steady progress second by second toward the mantle of this poor place.
all traffic immediately halted, some cars slammed nose to tail while the drivers looked up in horror. i sat there calm and expectant. there was a plane that left a small stain on the top of the dome of the sky. 205 people, pilot and attendants included, instantly destroyed molecule by molecule, used as fuel for something i could not help but think was pretty. looking up at the sphere from the inside, the top orange and gray plasma while the horizons all around panned from red down to black at the point where you lose sight, i could not help but think of rotting pumpkins. the heat came up quick. every where around me was suddenly melting and boiling and bursting into flames. car engines popping. i got out of mine. i walked to the shoulder of the edens expressway. i looked up as the fire came down. i stood there calm and expectant, unmovable and silent. i took on my fire and lost. we all lost.

break.

traffic moves. adjust radio. miss phone call from Mike in germany as i had the radio up to loud to hear it. but it was not the phone i trying to drown out.
