It's been a while since I wrote something for the Vampire Story; about this time last year I finished writing In the Name of Justice. As promised, here is the sequel. Belated, I know, but the break has given me time to think up fresh plotlines and work on other things. Now I'm really excited to enter back into the world I've missed.
I'll try not to go on too much in my pre-chapter notes this time around. Have a *short* prologue.
Prologue
The Visitor
It's a cold night - the coldest of the year so far. Up in the hills, a lone figure stands and looks out across the world.
She's dressed elaborately, considering the weather. A deep purple dress wraps around her waist and falls loose at the hips. Her boots are dark, high, and her arms are covered by sleeves. Dark, glossy hair cascades down her back, framing a sharp nose, full lips and a face that seems almost as pale as the moon itself.
Down in the valley, the village lies dormant. Most of the windows are dark now, and those that aren't glow with the soft light of a bedside candle. The woman stares at it for a few seconds. Then she sighs. Reaching into her pocket, she withdraws a small object and holds it in her hand.
It's a pendant. The starlet stone is encased in silver and hangs on a thin matching chain. The woman runs her eyes over it in custom. Her lips lift in a small smile.
A light breeze winds its way across the hills, sweeping down towards the valley. The moon hangs behind the clouds. Out of the darkness, two eyes glow red as blood.
