Band prospects
Holy crap, from out of nowhere it seems like there are shitloads of band prospects for next year! It's ideal..... I want to move away from the solo acoustic shizzle anyway.
Here they are, in order of preference.
1. Funk band: Just now while postering with Garry, we bumped into Garry's mate called Dave. He's the main member in a funk band at the moment but isn't too keen with it and therefore wants to start a new one. He's after a singer so I mentioned myself. Apparently Jamiroquai meets early RHCP. I have plenty of the former but nout of the latter, so I need some tracks sent my way.....
2. Blues-rock band: Some random fella the other week starts talking to me at our open mic session, recognising Keef on my t-shirt. He's a singer/guitarist who wants to start a Stones-esque blues-rock band. Fine by me! Called him up yesterday about it and he's still keen.
3. Random jam with Garry: Garry, our new Publicity Officer, has settled into our society rather well; regardless of being the newest Exec member, he was the reason we got Paddy's for open mic next year. Currently playing guitar in a student band called Death Of A Champion (they played for us last term but need improving, definitely in terms of singing), he wants to jam with me sometime. He likes a lot of music I do, so it could be pretty damn sweet.
4. Random jammage with housemates-to-be: Martin on vocals/guitar, myself on guitar and Siobhan on drums, with Stuart joining us on bass as well. 'Nuff said. Personally I don't see it working as a band, but would definitely be fun nonetheless.
5. 80s power-ballad band: Stuart also wants to do 80s covers (mainly Tears For Fears) with me on vocals. Hmm. I'll put that one aside..... might still be a laugh though.
The first one has really got me excited, especially seeing how randomly it came about. As I say, I need some dosage of early Chilis. Ooooh Stubert.....!
