But I have an electronic toilet, and I know just how to use it.

Uh oh.

Er, nitpick time again. If you mind terribly, feel free to delete my comments. I love this story, really I do, but I've psent too much time living in Japan and studying Japan to restrain myself :)
Commodore Perry didn't use diplomacy. He sailed in with big fucking steamships that belched black smoke and gave the shogun what-for. The choices Japan had were go to war with Perry (disastrous, since japan didn't have anything remotely close to America's military technology) or let the westerners do whatever they wanted. The shogun and his minions were frightened by the steamers, since no one in Japan had ever seen anything like it. So the two factions in the ruling class (war with America v. capitulate) started fighting each other, briefly, before Perry came back and forced his way in. I don't think Japan loved technology before they were forced to learn it from the West. They did do a terrific job of learning western science and philosophy and making it their own.

Will we get to see Felix in the club scene in Shibuya? Pretty please?

Well the diplomacy mentioned in the above chapter was sort of used sarcastically -- in that he was "diplomatic" insofar as he came with really big ships. (Speak softly, pilot a big ship. Er. Something.) I did mention the big ships, didn't I? (Er. Unless I lost my mind somewhere.) :) And I've been doing a bunch of Japanese studies recently and I've discovered -- unless my Professor is insane -- they did have the hankering for technology before Commodore Perry busted his way in, if mainly for the purpose of astronomy, if I recall correctly.
