i wish i had started listening to the who earlier in my life, particularly during high school, so that they could have been the soundtrack to my angst-filled adolescence. teenage wasteland just doesn't have the same ring to it now that im twenty. but i guess it's okay because truth be told, i wasn't THAT angsty in high school. but still, it would've been nice.
speaking of the who (live at leeds was my to AND from work music today because it's simply amazing), i think if i had my choice of any member i'd have to go with keith moon. i mean, i have always had a thing for drummers. roger daltrey is the most attractive, but lead singers just aren't for me. and he was probably the lamest too. and real particular about the girls he slept with. and c'mon, he'd have better hair than me! john entwistle just doesn't do it for me. bass players aren't my thing. too boring. and that leaves pete townshend. this was actually a toss-up, because pete townshend is pretty fucking badass, but in the end he def. got 2nd place. i bet he'd always have to be right. fun to party with sure. but i don't think i'd really want to have a conversation with him. pete townshend would intimidate me. he'd judge me before i got a chance to judge him! but more importantly, the reason why i'd choose keith moon over pete townshend is because he is dead thus proving that he is more badass than all the other members of the who!
when i get back to school i'm going to make a mix.
only because i decided on a great first track.
there is this radio station that has a 10 song classic rock block and lately they've been doing this thing where people can submit their "dream" rock block and then each day they pick one and play the whole thing. so i've been trying to think up what my 10 song classic rock block would be (this is pretty much all i do at work) but it's really hard!
so far it would include:
bob seger: night moves
bruce springsteen: thunder road. or maybe i'm on fire. but that's a short one and i wouldn't get my fix with it.
rolling stones: might have to go with beast of burden. i don't know though. any rs really
the who: teenage wasteland. i know, i know. i just talked about how it's not the same but i still really like the song!
steve miller band: the joker. mainly bc of the midnight toker part, obviously
bob dylan: ...
t.rex: the slider
david bowie: rebel rebel
the clash: janie jones (bc i dont know whether my other fav. songs were singles or not)
tom petty: your so bad
this changes pretty much every day.
i'm hungry!
