Here are some scans of the Batman 416 issue, the one where Jason and Dick meet for the first time =)
In Batman 408, Batman fires a 19-year-old, well-trained and experienced Robin because he "can endanger a child no longer". Dick swallows the bitter pill and takes off to become Nightwing.
Some weeks later, Batman decides that apparently he can endanger a child after all, and takes on a new, 13-year-old, inexperienced Robin. And he doesn't even bother telling Dick.
I love how Bruce makes it seems like he is the victim.
