friday: arrive in toronto after wicked carpool with old man, his two cool kids, two students, and another old guy who is in international trade and lived everywhere in the world. old man driving us even gave us sandwiches. i love old men.
-leave for syracuse with gui, bob and joe. no plans on where to stay.
-find the university, find a random house party, make friends, they let us crash there.
-meet sketchy coke heads down the street, make more friends.
saturday: wake up early, make our host french toast as thank you (it was his bday party the night before) and set off for philadelphia.
- drive to phili, check into our sketchy hotel in new jersey, and head to the city.
-phili is characterized by eating cheese steaks, seeing the liberty bell, independence hall, swimming in tons of fountains, walking to the rocky steps at the museum of art, going to dinner at a kickass restaurant, getting busted for rolling a joint ( but getting off, wheee!!), and wandering to the harbour to find submarines and huge boats.
Sunday: wake up late and head to baltimore for the virgin festival.
-got separated from bob and gui right from the start till the end cause our phones died.
-see regina spektor, spoon, yeah yeah yeahs, interpol, panic at the disco, and the smashing pumpkins, what ive been waiting my whole life to see. stood in the same spot for 7.5 hours at the front so that we could have a good so we could have a good view. wanted to cut off my legs. worth it because it was the best show ever. setlist included:
United states
Today
Stand inside your love
Hummer
Tarantula
Doomsday clock
Bullet with butterfly wings
1979
Zero
Starla
To Sheila
Heavy metal machines
that’s the way
Death from above
-met the boys at the car. found out they had crab cakes without me. was severely disappointed.
monday: wake up and head to washington. see the supreme court, library of congress, capitol hill and the white house. we also blared the team america theme as we drove down the streets. washington is pretty at first, but all the building basically look the same.
-leave for home. stop at a mom and pop diner in PA. two dollar budweiser but we get carded. fucking american laws.
-stop in niagara falls to see the falls.
-get home
this is such an abbreviated version but writing it all would take forever. we met lots of people, lots of ignorant people, smoked a lot of drugs, saw a lot of amazing bands, finally became assured that the pumpkins DO NOT suck live, found out that american coffee (not from starbucks) sucks balls, that tim hortons service is terrible, that americans pay stupid amounts of money for school, that people from the OC are really big dicks, that the ghettos of big cities are fucking terrifying, that they really do have strict drug laws, and way too much more.
please check out facebook for the stellar pictures.
