Name: Gabriel von Libzi a.k.a. “Der Alb”

Age: 270 (28 )
Sex: Male (preference: male, but not averse to women)
Origin: Leipzig, Germany
Clan/Generation: Genetic experiment/1st
Alliance: Outlaw

Appearance: Gabriel has an albino appearance which makes it harder for him to stay unnoticed. He’s no genetically normal albino however. Usually everyone notices the fine-featured young man with the long curly white hair which comes down to his shoulders. His slightly narrow eyes have two different colours: His right one is bilious green with a slit reptile pupil, his other normal eye is blue-white. In contrast to his left eye, the green one isn’t his own. It’s the eye of a long dead basilisk who once was a very dear friend to Gabriel. To cover his reptile-eye, he usually wears a leather eye patch.

He is 185 cm high and rather muscular, but still with a gentle elegance. People often cannot make out his sex when they merely recognize his shape, even though he leans more towards the male side. You also cannot tell his gender by his voice, because it has no typical quality of a certain gender. The same goes for his behaviour. Generally people are very pleased by his looks and don’t notice what a malicious and complicated person is hidden behind it. Moreover, his appearance hasn’t changed since he was 28 years old. And during his existence in this world he has attracted both men and women.

At day he likes to wear pantaloons, a white shirt with a four-in-hand necktie, a patterned black-white waistcoat and a black frock coat or a black tailcoat. In addition he likes to wear top hats and sometimes he ties his hair back when he wears them. But at night he prefers black leather suits and a hood cape which hide his white appearance.

Disciplines: Hiding, hiding his mind and intention and creating an illusion of an exceedingly fascinating and an enthralling being is one of his finest abilities to make his life as fulfilling for him as he can get it. Mostly he does such things unconsciously, but he chiefly uses them to gain power. And he enjoys it a lot. When he was poisoned by venom (further information down in his history) and he didn’t die for reasons unknown, his body mutated, not instantly visible however. So whenever he is in frenzy (which happens quite a lot with the hysterical son of a crazy woman), his teeth become fangs and his nails turn into claws. So Gabriel actually doesn’t need any kind of proper weapon, but he always carries two crooked daggers with him which he can handle extremely fast because he’s still used to such a kind of “normal” weaponry from his youth. Nevertheless he uses his claws a lot more often…Thanks to his snake-eye, he can scare people off, in the worst case they can also get paralysed, but he doesn’t use this ability very often because of his weaknesses and because it could really get him into serious trouble. He’s also a master in acrobatics and when night falls, he really enjoys roaming through the cities over the roofs, just for the sensation the nightly atmosphere gives him in that height above the streets. Besides he knows tons of poisons which are easily for him to create with a very little amount of effective essences.

There are only a few things which he’d really like to achieve… Maybe become a person who has less negative “virtues”.

Strengths: He knows how to fight, but his major strength is his talent in treachery and illusion. When he talks to people, he can hide his true intentions very well and he can hide his weaknesses very good and even be charming. He’s extremely good in giving advice for solving problems with insidious measures and mostly completely unnoticed. His ability of doing speeches is almost incredible and it’s easy for him to convince people. In spite of his many bad traits, he’s extremely caring. He basically cares about anything. This could be in fact also listened under weaknesses, but in his case it’s not. In addition this genetic experiment is a very loving person to people he’s really fond of, but he can’t easily show that.

Weaknesses: He appears to be very arrogant and self-centred. He also appears to be very cold… when he is with others. This only hides away that he is a very emotional character who gets to easily in rage which would destroy his masquerade when he’s around with mortals he detests for more than half an hour. One more thing which can make him very weak is that he gets too easily distracted… especially by jealousy, but not only. That’s one further main reason why he doesn’t want t get interacted with people he dislikes. It would also favour his mutation which he can suppress, but he has not the control that he could keep it up for long. The same is with his snake-eye. It doesn’t work any more when he’s too upset. And if he can’t keep up his façade, people suddenly deeply despise him, no matter how pretty he may be. Our mooooody lovely thing gets VERY easily annoyed, is bossy and kind of sadistic. Sometimes he himself never really knows what he’s saying or doing as if his reason would be blown out…
At last but not least he is very sensitive to temperature changes and as he has a reptile-like skin and circulation, he gets stiff quite easily when it gets colder. But

History: “Born” in a late autumn night on November 6th when the rain was pouring down onto the earth in 1613. In a dreary villa he was brought to life by his “mother”, Lady Yvonne von Libzi (Libzi is an old name for Leipzig). Miss Yvonne, a very rich widow in her 40s, was known for her passionate interest in weird kinds of genetic experiments and Gabriel was the outcome of one of them, made out of cells of unwanted children who were aborted or were killed after birth. As Yvonne wanted to create an immortal being, she offered a kind of abortion service to desperate women for the cells she needed. This time she succeeded with an own “baby”, with science and magic. The exact way how that happened isn’t known by anybody but her.

Gabriel was raised in a small room where his mother taught him about anything she could think of, also about life, but he never came out of his chamber until he was at the age of 10. Back then he already loved reading a lot and he has always loved Greek and Roman epics. Then he was shown around in her circle of friends who where all rich scientists with the same (for that time shocking) ambitions. But Gabriel despised this company that was only occupied with science and ignorant of the soul and the emotions. But he still became as cold and ruthless as them and he didn’t know that there existed people who weren’t like them. He became more and more tired with interacting between all those analytical adults. At the age of 12 he ran away and made it from Leipzig to Edinburgh where he thought he would be safe from his mad mother. He didn’t have a hard way to get there at all. His abilities already showed effect. They only saw that beautiful young being with his supernatural aura.

Out on the streets in Edinburgh he firstly didn’t know what to do until he stumbled across the assassin “Snake-Eye” who became his mentor. There he learnt the art of killing unnoticed and effective for the case that there once might be the necessity of getting out of trouble like that. The assassin was mortal, but a shape-shifter. He could turn into a basilisk which was not only a gift but also a curse. Once the basilisk came back from a hunt and didn’t find anything to eat, he accidentally attacked Gabriel who got poisoned by animal instinct, lost his right eye, but managed to bring the snake down with his daggers.

That’s how Gabriel’s real life as an awfully dangerous immortal being began. He was poisoned and thought that he would die. Left with only one eye he fainted after the battle. He was moved into a cave by mysterious hands and odd things happened there. The creatures of the night that were around him strangely didn’t try to get the poison out of him but they gave him one eye of his now dead mentor “Snake-Eye” which gave him back his eyesight on the right and the ability to scare people away without doing them actual harm… His body was already transforming… The creatures vanished and with them almost all glimpses of Gabriel’s humanity, too…
The human-looking creatures didn’t see the need to make him one of them because they knew perfectly well that Gabriel already was immortal, just a little more changed now.

Throughout the following time he went on with the job his mentor had to gain money and afford a bohemian life, became a professional assassin and went to Dresden. During his time there he tried out a lot. He even got a lot more social with the people in the criminal underground and even in high society since he got invitations from complete strangers all the time due to his striking appearance. There was something about this mixture between heaven-and hell-like. Furthermore he took many lovers of both sexes, but he soon recognized that he was a lot more drawn to male human-like creatures than to female ones. He wasn’t a gentle person although his look might imply that. He was rough and he needed companionship that he could treat like that and that treated him like that. In any way… even when it comes to love. His animal instincts could be very overwhelming though he was a very cultivated person actually. Besides living in old abandoned noble houses with sinister mortals, he’s known for reading a lot in his free time. He’s a regular guest in public and private libraries anywhere he is. Gabriel is basically keen on reading everything except books that treat natural science. Natural science was the cause for his childhood trauma.

He also got his nickname in Dresden: “Der Alb” “Alb” is a being which is a little elf in Norse folklore who causes nightmares. He got that name for one reason: Because of his notorious fame in killing and letting people mentally suffer, sometimes to death. On the other hand it can be referred to his totally white appearance, as “albus” is white in Latin.

Though he’s more the loner he loves his friends and they are extremely precious to him. But he lost his last mortal friends Raphael and Cecilia hundred years ago. They were expelled mortals who didn’t blame him for who and what he truly is and in whose present he didn’t need to anything. Afterwards he couldn’t find anyone he wanted to be friend with as his long life made him more and more gloomy. The most he enjoyed the Romantic Era in Germany, which met his preference of rebellion and emotions.

His cruel personality is probably, but certainly not only, the fault of his so-called “mother”, her circle of friends and his mutation, which also seemed to affect his mind. It’s also absolutely unknown what the criteria for choosing people as friends or lovers are, even to him.

At the end of the 19th century he moved to Paris to gain new experiences… and maybe even to gain new friends, immortal friends he could be with for all his time on earth as he hasn’t known any other immortal being yet because they seem to avoid him wherever he turns up...
